Buy nowHow do I match 2 bank transactions to a single credit card entry using QBO? I made a purchase on Monday and recorded the charge on my credit card. Today, I download bank transactions and the merchant split the single charge into 2 separate charges but with the correct total. Is there a way to match them BOTH to the single entry I already created?
I know I can simply accept the 2 separate bank transactions and delete the original single entry, but I used to be able to "combine" them using QB Desktop. I don't see how to do this with QBO.
Thanks!

Hello there, Chymos. To clarify, QuickBooks Online (QBO) can't match multiple downloaded bank transactions to a single manually recorded entry. The system only matches transactions with equal amounts or smaller than the downloaded amounts, so when your manual entry is larger than each individual downloaded transaction, QBO does not recognize them as a match.
To keep your records accurate and your reconciliation process simple, you can follow these options:
Go to the Accounting > Bank transactions tab, check the boxes next to the two split charges, and select Exclude. This ensures your manual entry remains the official record and removes the downloaded transactions to prevent double counting your expenses.
Alternatively, you can delete the single manual entry and re-record it as two separate transactions that matches the amounts of the two downloaded bank entries. By matching the merchant’s split, QuickBooks Online will instantly recognize and pair both entries in your banking feed, keeping your books and bank statements in perfect sync.

Yes, there's a way, Chymos. You can Match the recent bank transactions you downloaded to the corresponding credit card entry you recorded in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If the bank transaction you imported into QBO has similar details to the one you've recorded (such as date and category) except for the amount, QBO will automatically suggest a match. From the Bank transactions page, Match the first downloaded split transaction to the entry in QBO by clicking the Match button. Then, do the same for the second split transaction, ensuring that only one transaction remains in the QBO records.
If the suggested match is incorrect, you can click Find other matches to look for the correct transaction. Don’t forget to click Match once you've made the correct selection.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to revisit this thread.
Thanks, and this sounds very much like what I was used to with QB Desktop, but when I select the MATCH checkbox, the original transaction is not in the list. All filters turned off, and date range is appropriate. So strange!

Thank you for this reply, and the second option you mention is what I ended up doing. I appreciate your help!
This is a bit disappointing, as with QB Desktop, what I am trying to accomplish was an option. It's unfortunate that QBO takes this option away, as it is not the first time I've encountered this trouble.
