Missing Transactions via Direct Connect for Mac Desktop

I have been trying in vain to manually download missing bank transactions from my bank using "web connect" since they were not uploaded automatically via "direct connect."  However, no matter what trick I try (I've read a lot about this), I continue to get the notice that my "account is up-to-date" when there are at least three months of transactions missing.  This happens every year at tax-time, and every year I want to cry and wonder why I still use Quickbooks.  (It used to be so simple, and how it's pure torture...manual data entry is apparently still the best option, really.)  I'm no dummy, I can follow directions and I know what to do, but I still cannot solve this problem.  It looks like my bank account is not set up for web connect (in the drop down menu on my bank account online banking/edit page, only the "direct connect" option can be selected).  Is this the issue?  Is it something else? Help before I just totally quit being self-employed because Quickbooks has driven me to the edge of madness.

Missing Transactions via Direct Connect for Mac Desktop

Hello stheck!

I'd also feel the same if I keep on getting the same issue. I'd like to share solutions to this missing transactions error.

You'll want to check first with your bank if they are having some system maintenance. Please note that this can result in a connection problem and the transactions won't download.

Also, there's an option in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac that you need to disable when you manually import bank transactions. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Chart of Accounts and select the affected account.
  2. Select Edit in the Action window, select the Online Settings tab.
  3. On the Download Transactions window, select Not enabled, then Save.
  4. From the Edit Account window, select OK.
  5. Create a duplicate of the account, but give it a different name.
  6. Rename the original account with the same name as the duplicate.
  7. Import the file again.

Also, make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is updated. If the same thing happens, run the verify and rebuild data tool to fix any data issue that can errors like this.

Here are the article if you need detailed steps in reconciling your accounts and how to fix issues related to it:

@stheck

Which QBD Mac year version do you have?

I have the 2019 version.

I'm following your directions, AlexV, but Im not sure hot to create a duplicate of my bank account.  If you can elaborate on that segment, I'd appreciate it!  (If I'm importing data into a duplicate account, what happens to the original account? For some reason, that part is confusing.)

Thanks!!!

Hi there, @stheck. Allow me to chime in and clear up the confusion.

I've got the detailed steps you'll need to create a duplicate bank account. QuickBooks will merge the accounts when you rename the original one to the new name.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the + icon, then complete the account details. Make sure to add the number "1" at the end of the name. If the original bank account is "ABC," create a new one named "ABC1."
  3. Once you're done, select OK.

After that, follow these steps to rename the original account to merge them.

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the original account you want to edit.
  3. Select the Pencil icon to edit it.
  4. Rename it to the new name (for example, rename "ABC" to "ABC1."
  5. Select Yes to merge the entries.

Once done, import the file again. I'm also linking these resources that will help you manage your lists:

Thanks for the attempts at helping me.  Unfortunately, none of these solutions solve the problem.  No matter what I do, I continue to get the message "nothing imported, account up to date."  My bank is not having problems, I can easily download a qbo file for the missing dates, and yet there is no way to upload the data.  There is also no way to reach any human, and if I try to "chat" with support, the window tells me that my session has timed out and closes before I even get on.  I have no idea what to do from here.  Like everyone, I have seriously limited time to devote to tax season, and I should have been done with this chore days ago... is there any option I haven't tried?? Ugh.
