My bank changed names, account number, and routing number, but everything in the account has remained the same. I cannot figure out how to link it to the same account on quickbooks desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You've come to the right place for assistance, JELLC5. Accurate bank information is crucial for seamless operations in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Let's work together to update your financial institution's name, routing number, and account number.
The name, account number, and routing digits are essential for QB to connect to the correct bank account when online services are activated. Once done, these cannot be changed. However, if there are changes to this data, we can disconnect the Bank Feeds for this account and then reconnect with the updated details.
Please note that QB won't let you unlink an account if it has transactions left for review. You'll need to categorize them first.
Here's a step-by-step process for making your modifications:
Then, link the account using its new information. Refer to the steps below:

My Bank changed names and routing number only, account stayed the same. Can I just change the routing number only or do I need to setup a new account?
There's no need to set up a new account, @jillpmcg. However, we can reestablish the connection to update your bank information.
You can modify your login information and other details for the bank account associated with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), such as the name and routing number.
But, make sure to select the Deactivate All Online Services option in the Bank Feed Settings first to prevent QuickBooks from collecting data and be able to make your changes.
After disconnecting, you can select Set Up Bank Feed for an Account and log in using your Intuit account credentials to re-establish your bank's connection, allowing you to update the information and connect to the bank’s server.
Additionally, consider creating rules in QBDT to help the program automatically categorize your bank transactions.
