Not all of our iif file will load.

For the past two payroll runs, only part of our iif file will load. The same employees' info fails. Any idea what's going on?

Not all of our iif file will load.

Good day, lhaun.

To clarify, are you getting a fail error when trying to import the IIF file in your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac? If so, I'd like to share a suggestion to help you successfully import the file.

Let's make sure that all of the necessary information for this employee matches in both programs (QuickBooks Online Payroll Standalone and QuickBooks Desktop for Mac). Then, review the accounts required and ensure they are properly mapped in the Payroll settings page.

To review the employee's information in your QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can follow these steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Payroll > Employees.
  2. Click the employee's name.
  3. Select the pencil icon to edit the employee's information and make sure it matches with what you have in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Please see this sample screenshot for a visual reference:

Once done, check the account mapping in the export preferences and edit the information if necessary.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear > Payroll Settings.
  2. In the Export section, click the Pencil icon on the right to edit.
  3. Review the name of each account you are exporting your liabilities and expenses to. We recommend that you have a copy of your QuickBooks chart of accounts handy for this.
  4. Click Done

After the steps, try to export your payroll in the Paycheck list page.

Here are the steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Payroll Overview.
  2. Click the View paycheck list link.
  3. Put a check mark on the paychecks you want to export.
  4. Select the Export to Accounting button. This will download an IIF file, which you can import to your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I've got this sample screenshot for a visual guide:

Finally, import the downloaded IIF file into QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Before doing so, please make sure to create a back up copy of your company file.

Then, follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, go to the File menu.
  2. Select Import.
  3. Click From IIF Files, choose the downloaded IIF file.

You can read this article for more details: Export into QuickBooks Online or Desktop from Core, Premium, or Elite Standalone Payroll.

Please let me know how it goes on your end. I'm determined to get this fixed for you. Keep safe.

Not all of our iif file will load.

Unfortunately, the names and line items all match from our desktop version to the version in Intuit Payroll.  We've been doing this for years and never had a problem with the iif files until the payroll run for August 6 and now the one for August 20.  The same nine people with no changes made on our end.  I'll have to input their checks manually, which takes a while.  Hope you folks can figure this out for us.

Not all of our iif file will load.

Hello, lhaun.

I appreciate you for taking the time to manually record checks at the moment and your thoughts with us about the outcome when exporting your payroll info.

Before importing your file, just make sure that the mapping is all correct. After reviewing and the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support so they can further investigate what's causing the 9 employee's payroll inf not imported.

Here's how to contact them in case you need help with the steps:

  1. Click the Help menu.
  2. In the chatbox, type "contact support", then click the Contact Support Team.
  3. When asked, type "Exporting payroll info through IIIF file not loading correctly" or something similar.
  4. Click No, I still need the help, and select the Contact Support Team link.
  5. Select an option in reaching out to one of our agents.

For the next pay run, you'll want to try exporting individual paychecks on one of the 9 employees and see if they are imported as expected.

Just leave a reply below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible if you have any other concerns about QuickBooks and payroll. I'm all ears.

Not all of our iif file will load.

I was in touch with 4-5 different help agents for the payroll run of August 6 and now have been with the help folks with intuit already today who passed me off to a specialist in Desktop Quickbooks who then sent me back to the payroll specialists.  We have spent hours trying to get this fixed and give up.
