To clarify, are you getting a fail error when trying to import the IIF file in your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac? If so, I'd like to share a suggestion to help you successfully import the file.
Let's make sure that all of the necessary information for this employee matches in both programs (QuickBooks Online Payroll Standalone and QuickBooks Desktop for Mac). Then, review the accounts required and ensure they are properly mapped in the Payroll settings page.

Unfortunately, the names and line items all match from our desktop version to the version in Intuit Payroll. We've been doing this for years and never had a problem with the iif files until the payroll run for August 6 and now the one for August 20. The same nine people with no changes made on our end. I'll have to input their checks manually, which takes a while. Hope you folks can figure this out for us.
Hello, lhaun.
I appreciate you for taking the time to manually record checks at the moment and your thoughts with us about the outcome when exporting your payroll info.
Before importing your file, just make sure that the mapping is all correct. After reviewing and the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support so they can further investigate what's causing the 9 employee's payroll inf not imported.
Here's how to contact them in case you need help with the steps:
For the next pay run, you'll want to try exporting individual paychecks on one of the 9 employees and see if they are imported as expected.
Just leave a reply below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible if you have any other concerns about QuickBooks and payroll. I'm all ears.
I was in touch with 4-5 different help agents for the payroll run of August 6 and now have been with the help folks with intuit already today who passed me off to a specialist in Desktop Quickbooks who then sent me back to the payroll specialists. We have spent hours trying to get this fixed and give up.
