Not Matching Credit Card deposits

I have several Bank Card Deposits not matching because we take deposits for jobs so the total of the invoice doesn't match the amount we received to date.  Is there a way to force a match for these transactions or are we stuck with the solution we were given by our accounting firm?  That solution was to basically change the amount of the invoice to the amount we collected.  We are using another software for invoicing that is synced to QuickBooks and QuickBooks is set up as the master.  In my mind that will really mess things up with the other software and how things are tracked in that software.

Not Matching Credit Card deposits

I can assure you to give you a solution to your concern today.

It's possible that the quantity of a bank item doesn't match the amount of a transaction you entered. Maybe you had to pay a little fee to complete a sale, or maybe you got a discount for paying your account early.

To rectify the discrepancy, you can make an adjustment, by heading to the Banking tab.

To make a correction to a match's discrepancy:

  1. On the Banking page, find the amount that does not match the transaction you recorded for it.
  2. Select the item, then click Find Match once the row has expanded.
  3. Select the transaction to match on the Match Transactions page. If you can't find it, use the search box.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the table and hit Resolve difference on the right after selecting the transaction.
  5. For the money spent, click Add new cost; for money received, click Add new deposit. There is now a second table. (To see it, you may need to scroll down the page.)
  6. To make the modification, fill in the fields in the table.
  7. When you're finished, click Save.
