Payroll payments from Bank Feed is categorizing payment as EFT payments and not check payments

Hello,

I am trying to assist my client, who recently upgraded QB desktop to QB desktop 2020.  He uses the bank feed option, and previously when he used the bank feeds, his payroll payments would get categorized as check payments, but after upgrading his quick books, when he uses the bank feeds the payroll payments are getting categorized as EFT's.  Are there any instructions on how we can setup the bank feed settings so that the payroll payments get recorded as check payments and not EFT's?

Let me share how it works, Jkim97204.

QuickBooks is dependent on what your bank shares with us. We're unable to change the Type and Download As columns. You can reach out to your financial institution or log in to the website, though. Then, check if you can change the type before it gets downloaded to our program.

Also, you can use bank rules to categorize your transactions automatically. Once they're downloaded from your bank, you'll have to categorize them into the right accounts. The bank rules feature to speed up the review process. For more information, you can check this article: Use renaming rules for Bank Feeds.

Tag me if you have other questions. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Take care!
