It appears you're experiencing difficulty with reconciliation in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, @CarriesMac. Knowing how important the reconciliation feature is to have accurate books, I'd feel the same as it disrupts my workflow. Yet, I'm here to offer you a range of troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue, ensuring you can proceed with your reconciliation smoothly.
I recommend performing the Verify and Rebuild process on your company data. These steps can resolve underlying data integrity issues that may be causing the problem and help fix them.
To begin with, here's how to verify your company file data:
To rebuild your company file data, kindly follow these steps:
After the rebuilding process, you can return to the reconciliation page and resume reconciling.
However, if the Reconcile button remains greyed out, I recommend performing a clean install of QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. This process will remove QuickBooks along with any residual installation files, allowing you to reinstall the program in a clean state.
I'll attach this future reference you may use concerning issues on the previous reconciliation report. This resource will help you resolve common issues while running previous reconciliation reports: Fix common problems on the Previous Reconciliation report.
The steps provided should help diagnose and resolve the problem you’re facing with reconciliation in QuickBooks. If there's anything we can assist you with, the Community is always open to everyone. We're here to help you to the best of our abilities.
Thank you Carl for your suggestions, so Verify did not work, Rebuild Data gave me error message/window.“Operation could not be completed because not all windows could be closed”. (the “RECONCILE” window is the Only item I wasn’t able to Quit or close in any other command way either, so I will try re-installign QuickBooks 2019 MAC desktop program…….t.b.c.
So, I am unable to “Quit QuickBooks”, so how can I Uninstall it??
I tried dragging to Trash from Applications, tried “Q” comman in QB, nope, nothing. argh!!
I opened Library, Trashed & emptied Trash for USER PList & also SYSTEM PList.
Most likely your file is corrupted. Use the QB Desktop 2020 trial version to open your company file and run the Verify/Rebuild Data utility to make sure.
I already dumped & trashed it…..QUESTION: do you personally know if QBDT 2019 Mac works with ‘MAC OS Monterey 12.5.1 specific version”?? (I was trying it on my other Macbook, which is a”Mac OS Monterey. 12.6 Version"
If you still encounter unresolved error messages after running the Verify/Rebuild Data utility more than once, you should focus on fixing it first.

The issue with the greyed-out Reconcile screen may be due to a temporary software glitch that can occur after prolonged use of QuickBooks or following system updates.

Hi @CarriesMac , this sounds like there is a window possibly off-screen that's blocking you. When you're stuck like this, if you click any of the menu items at the top of the screen are they all greyed out as well? If they are try this to close any stuck open windows:
1. if QuickBooks is already open and stuck, hold the CTRL key and click on QuickBooks in the Dock
2. in the menu that opens up, now hold the Option key and chose to Force Quit, this will close QuickBooks
3. once it's closed, now hold the Command key and double click to open up QuickBooks (keep the key held down until you are back in your company file), this will open up your company file with all open windows closed
4. now, go back to Banking and select Reconcile, hopefully this will open up like it used to for you to the Account selection window
