QB desktop 2020 no longer importing QBO file that I downloaded to my computer from my bank.

Yes so I heard from other users, thank you.

I shouldn't have to keep using newer versions for such a basic function of a recent software version.

CSV and excel database import/export has been around for decades, Intuit are obviously desperate for a few more dollars profit. I will be looking around for alternatives, maybe I will go back to Excel, I still have a template somewhere from the 1990's!!

QB desktop 2020 no longer importing QBO file that I downloaded to my computer from my bank.

I was able to import a QBO file with a quickbooks 2020 version after getting the error and trying different things.

Follow this article.

Backup your old fidir.txt file from the resource folder. Copy the one from 2023 QB desktop version from the link. Replace your old QBXX version with the 2023 version. Restart QB and it should work.

Actually this article helped me solve the problem:

I downloaded the 2023 fidir.txt and replaced my old 2020 fidir.txt file.

Once it starts working, never allow automatic updates or check for any updates

QB desktop 2020 no longer importing QBO file that I downloaded to my computer from my bank.

I was able to successfully import a QBO file after getting the error by following the below article. After trying different options, this one seemed to work.

Backup your old fixer.txt file from your resource folder. Copy the Quickbooks 2023 fixer.txt file from the link below. Replace your old fixer.txt from QBXXXX version with the QB 2023 version. Restart QB and it should work.

Once it starts working, DO NOT select check for updates or turn on automatic updates.

Mine was QB 2020 version, and I presume it should work for other unsupported versions as well.
