QB Online Payroll

When processing payroll QB creates a new 'Business Checking" to pull my payroll run, instead of using the selected correct operating account. I've mapped the payroll and selected the correct checking account in the pay drop down box but it still falls back to the generic Business Checking, then transactions don't match in the Bank Transactions.

Hi there, @dg-raydiance.

Let me help you pull up your payroll run into the correct bank account.

We should first change the bank account with the payroll service before changing it to your preferences.

Here's how:

  1. From the Settings, select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click Bank Accounts, then Edit.
  3. Tap Update.
  4. Choose the Add new bank account.
  5. Search your bank name. You may be asked to enter your online banking user ID and password. Otherwise, select Enter bank info manually. Enter your routing and account number, then select Save.
  6. Click Accept and Submit.

Ideally, if you follow this setup QuickBooks will automatically update where you get the money. You can read this article for detailed steps: Change your payroll bank account

Since this isn't the case, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll support so they can help you utilize the correct bank account.

If you want to learn how to run, print, and customize payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can read this article: Run payroll reports.

Leave a comment below for additional payroll-related concerns. I'll be willing to help. Keep safe and have a good one.

I've done this and it still continues to create the generic Business Checking. I've checked all mapped accounts and settings that they are set to my operating business checking.
