QBO is mislabeling 100's of Expensify transactions as "Business to Business Advertising" and blaming in on Wells Fargo.

The bank feed never says "advertising" not anywhere, yet QBO continues to insert this garbage and tells me they won't fix it.  I can see the bank feed info, it's correct and it's an Expensify Business to Business Transfer (an expense reimbursement). QBO is very much in the wrong. I'm moving things to Xero for next year if they won't fix it.

Any simliar experiences or suggestions?

I hear your sentiments, @Western. Please know this isn't the impression we'd like you to have. Rest assured, I'll help you get around this issue with your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

First, we can review your bank transactions if you're utilizing the Banking Rules feature. It is an added feature that automatically categorizes downloaded transactions. It might be the reason why the system is mislabeling your transactions.

To check if you've set up Banking rules, here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. From the Rules window, review if you've set up one.

Once you've verified if there's a bank rule, we can disable or delete them by ticking the dropdown icon beside the rule. Then manually categorize the transactions and put them in the correct accounts.

QBO is mislabeling 100's of Expensify transactions as "Business to Business Advertising" and blaming in on Wells Fargo.

This is 100% not the solution or an answer to my question. It has nothing to do with categorizing transactions. It has everything to do with QBO ignoring the bank feed and inserting the wrong info into the description column. Today I see QBO is using a description of "Office Depot" when the bank feed shows "Home Depot." Home Depot is the correct vendor, the bank information is correction, QBO is totally wrong. Please stop putting garbage information in the description. If Quickbooks can't read it, don't put something in there.

Hello,@Western.

I appreciate you for getting back on this thread and providing an additional screenshot.

Please know that QuickBooks identify the bank details of your transactions based on the information given by your bank. Thus, you'll want to verify with your bank if it can still be changed or updated.

You can always reply or reach out to us again if you need anything else. We're always here to guide and assist you whenever you need help. Keep safe always.

I don't accept this response. The bank is sending the correct details. The bank feed is accurate. Quickbooks continues to blame their problems on banks.

Go ahead and show me where Wells Fargo is telling Quickbooks that an Office Depot transaction is a Home Depot transaction. Or show me where Wells Fargo is telling Quickbooks that Expensify transactions shold have a "Business to Business Advertising" description. Prove it!

I notice there is no response to this problem and nothing has been resolved.

In fact, every single transaction detail from Wells Fargo that includes "Business to Business ACH.." is being translated by QBO to say "Business to Business Advertising" None of the bank transaction details include "Advertising" yet it's continuing to show on what is now becoming 1000's of transactions improperly labeled by QBO. I'm so fed up with Quickbooks. This is terrible support.

Here is another one for a company that isn't listening:

Transactions with this bank detail:

"BUSINESS TO BUSINESS ACH Town Pilot Servi..."

Are being given the Description:  "Pilot Travel Center"

The bank feed is correct. Quickbooks is dead wrong. This isn't something in my banking rules.

I'll ask this again, where is QBO getting it's descriptions if it's ignoring the Bank Text?

QBO is mislabeling 100's of Expensify transactions as "Business to Business Advertising" and blaming in on Wells Fargo.

Here we have another fine example:

The bank says this is a "BUSINESS TO BUSINESS ACH TITAN AVI 23014..."

That's all true. It's an ACH from my business to Titan Aviation.

Quickbooks says:

It's "Business to Business Advertising" and has gone so far as to add a payee of xxxxxx Companies, Inc instead of the correct vendor. I do not have any of this in banking rules.

Perhaps I need to start posting about this on Youtube to get an actual resolution?

Thanks for sharing the complete details of your concern in the QuickBooks Community page, @Western.

How your transactions are downloaded and labeled on the Banking page depends on how QuickBooks coded them in the system.

I'd recommend sharing this feedback with our Product Development team. They can review your experience and suggestions to help develop the product. Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then click Next to submit feedback.

Yes I do have other questions and concerns. You would "recommend sharing this feedback"?? Do you maybe think this isn't just feedback, it's a serious glitch? And do you feel just a little bit guilty that you, a Quickbooks employee, is just leaving it up to me to resolve? Take some responsibilty!

And thanks so much for sharing the guidance on how to use bank rules. It's clear you didn't pay any attention the actual issue.

By the way, Xero doesn't have this problem. They're able to translate the bank feed without inserting words and company names into the transaction description that have nothing to do with the transaction.

It is obvious that QB has changed something.  Over 75% of my bank feeds are incorrect.... some have conflicting Description, Payee and Category entries.  I am now forced to verify each transaction online with the financial institution.
