Bank Feed Rules causing crash

Hello,

I am just setting up Bank Feeds, and every time I try to create a rule, Quickbooks crashes.  This occurs from either spot, and I have Advanced Bank Feeds checked.  Support cannot help me.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Bank Feed Rules causing crash

Great to have you here in the Community, @cagey87. Let’s fix your concern with setting up bank feeds together in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To sort out this matter, we can run a QuickBooks Tool Hub. This helps fix common errors. To use the tool hub, you must first close QuickBooks. Then let’s proceed with downloading the program to your computer. Here’s how:

  1. Close QBDT.
  2. Download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save it somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub once the installation is complete.

Once done, we can then proceed to the steps to fix common errors by running a Quick Fix my program. QuickBooks will shut down any open background processes as a result of the Quick Fix. It will make a quick fix to your program. I’ll show you how:

  1. Select Program Problems from the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Open your data file in QuickBooks Desktop.

If something went wrong during the installation of QuickBooks, it may cause issues when you try to utilize it. To resolve typical installation errors, use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. You can refer to Solution 2: Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool from this article: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working.

I also added this article for your reference about setting up bank accounts for bank feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

Bank Feed Rules causing crash

Thanks, but I've downloaded and run the Tool.  Also, we've been using QB for years, so we are not a new install--just new to bank feeds.

Bank Feed Rules causing crash

Thanks for getting back with the Community, cagey87. I appreciate you performing RoseJillB's recommended troubleshooting steps.

Since QuickBooks is crashing every time you create rules while setting up bank feeds, I'd recommend using your Verify Data feature to see if anything needs to be rebuilt.

Here's how:

    1. Choose Window, then Close All.
    2. In your top menu bar, go to File.
    3. Click Utilities.
    4. Select Verify Data

After verification's complete, you'll see one of a few possible messages. I've listed each of them and their meanings:

  • "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," - No action is required.
  • "Your data has lost integrity," - This indicates that there's data damage in your company file. You'll want to perform a rebuild to correct the problem.
  • An error message could display. If so, there might be an article about it. Try searching Intuit's QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions.

If the Verify/Rebuild Data utilities didn't solve your issue, you can get in touch with our Customer Care team so they can conduct further research:

  1. In your top menu bar, go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in our Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) field.
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Select We’ll contact you for a callback or Message Us to start an instant messaging session.

They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and create an investigation ticket if necessary. Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

If there's any questions, I'm just a post away. Have a fantastic day!
