I want to connect a bank account that is currently linked to an old QB client to a new QB client.

After the linking was finished, the next time I log in to the new QB client, the bank link disappears.

Please help!

Thanks for dropping by the Community, joenas.

I know how important for your business to connect the account to your new client. Let me guide you in the right direction to resolve the issue.

Before connecting the account to online banking, contact first your Financial Institution. You’ll have to check if they allow multiple connections. Some banks don’t allow this type of setup for security reasons.

If they permit multiple connections, disconnect the account from your old client. Then, link the bank to your new client.

To unlink:

  1. Go to the Banking menu to choose the Banking tab.
  2. Pick the account you’re working on.
  3. Click the Pencil and select Edit account info to open the Account window.olb disc.png
  4. Scroll down to the Connected to section and uncheck the box for Disconnect this account on save checkbox.olb disc.1.png
  5. Press Save and Close.

Let me share this write-up for more insights into this process: Disconnect or delete accounts connected to online banking.

Additionally, this article provides information about setting up a parent and sub-accounts in QBO. It includes instructions on how to create the accounts and reconcile them: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.

Hi Rasa,

We do not want to lose the connection to the first QB account.

If you are saying that multiple connections are allowed then why do we have to unlink the first one?

@joenas

Another option, explore SlickConnect for your second QBO account.

Hi there, joenas.

Thank you for coming back to the thread to add further clarifications. I'll share some extra details about connecting a bank account to QuickBooks.

When you connect a bank in QuickBooks Online, it depends on your bank's agreement. Then, the downloaded data in QuickBooks Online operated on what your bank shares with us and how they're posted online. That said, you'll have to confirm from your Financial Institution if your bank account supports multiple connections. Once you verified that it allows various connections, you don't have to unlink the first one which is currently linked to an old QB client. Please note that syncing a bank account to multiple QBO accounts might cause some connectivity issues. That's the reason you encountered the bank link disappears.

Take a look at this article for more details on connecting bank account to QBO: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

You can also click this article to see the difference between disconnecting an account from online banking and deleting one from your chart of accounts: Disconnect or delete accounts connected to online banking.

I'm also adding this article to see detailed steps on how you can reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements to avoid discrepancies: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if there's anything that I can help in managing your account. I'm always here to help. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Asia,

Thank you for your reply.

Is there a free software that I can use to convert csv to qif?

Thanks for getting back to us, @joenas. Let me share some details about third-party application in QuickBooks.

We're unable to suggest any free third-party application that integrates with QuickBooks. Though, you can check some applications that are compatible with QuickBooks Online.

There are two ways to look for a third-party app. First is by going to the  Intuit apps website or navigating the Apps menu in your QBO account. Let me guide you how:

  1. Go to the Apps menu at the left pane.
  2. Select the Find Apps tab, and then type a keyword in the search bar.
  3. Click the magnifying glass to search, and then choose the app that suits your need.

From there, you'll have the option to read the app's description and check out the reviews to better give you an idea of selecting the app that works best for you.

Additionally, you can always browse our Banking articles. This way, you'll find some tips and related references for your future tasks.

You can always get back in this comment section if you have other concerns about managing your sales transactions. Doing so helps us to further assist you.
