Change bank Customer ID in QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023

I recently had to change my bank username and password.  When I tried to update this in QB Desktop the program blocked me saying I could only use the old discontinued bank username and password.

How can I change Quickbooks or get my bank to change it's configuration so that it will accept my new bank username / Customer ID?

Change bank Customer ID in QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023

Hello there, DarkMoon41.

I know how essential it is for you to update your login credentials on your account. This helps ensure you can fetch the latest bank entries and keep your records in order.

You can change your login and other information for the bank account you use with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Disable the bank feeds first, make the necessary modifications, then reconnect the account.

Before performing any troubleshooting steps, make sure to match, or delete all of the downloaded data for the account. QBDT won't let you make any modifications if there are still pending entries. Once done, follow the steps below to accomplish the tasks stated above.

To disconnect:

  1. In your company file, head to the Lists menu and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click the account and select Edit Account.
  3. Proceed to the Bank Settings and click on Deactivate all online services and OK.
  4. Press the Save & Close button.

This reference provides in-depth information about the process: Disconnect Bank Feeds for an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Next, activate your online banking again. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and proceed to Bank Feeds.
  2. Click on Set up Bank Feeds for an account.
  3. In the Enter your Bank's name field, find and select your American Express account.
  4. Click on Continue and provide your online banking credentials.
  5. Follow the prompts to finish adding the account.

Here's an article that discusses in detail the various ways to connect your Financial Institution (FI) to the bank feeds: Set up or edit bank accounts.

When your online banking is working again, classify the transactions to the correct category for easy reconciliation

I have tried these steps already.

The program tells me in the bank feeds center that it will only accept the old disabled bank ID, not the new and working Wells Fargo login.

Thank you for returning to the thread and following the steps provided by my colleague, @DarkMoon41.

Since you're still getting the same result after performing the steps above, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team. They are equipped to review your account and assist you in updating your username and password within the Bank Feeds Center

Here's how you can get in touch with them:

  1. Go to Help and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account.
  5. We'll email you a single use code. Enter your code and click Continue.
  6. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.

Furthermore, I've included an article that provides insight into using various built-in shortcut keys in the program: Keyboard shortcuts in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please keep me updated if you have any additional questions or concerns while managing your accounts in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm here to assist you.

I did that as well - twice and none of them even understood the problem as evidenced by them just giving me links to solve other bank feeds problems and they told me there was no longer second level support.

There are a few similar posts to mine but no one at Intuit provides an answer or explanation.   Can someone ask the engineering team or others what needs to happen to fix this?
