Check register autofill

My MAC QBs was updated on 8-10-22, I don"t use online QBs, now when I go to write a check it auto fills the amount of the last check I wrote to a supplier, so I have to make sure I highlight and adjust the amount, is there a way to turn this new feature off ?

Thank you for your help

Check register autofill

Hello, Filip2.

Yes, there is a way to turn off the autofill feature in QuickBooks Mac. I'm happy to show you the steps.

We can turn off the QuickFill option from the Preferences menu to prevent the data from auto-filling. Here are the full steps:

  1. Click the QuickBooks menu, then select Preferences
  2. Select Data Entry
  3. Turn the QuickFill transactions option to Off

You can now start writing checks without QuickBooks having to auto-fill the data.

If you need more help with your settings or need a guide or two on what you can do with QuickBooks Mac, I'll share this user guide: QuickBooks Mac 2022 User guide

Need help in checking how much you've spent versus your sales so far? I'll add this article in case you need help with this in the future: Create reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Feel free to post here again if you have more questions about setting up your preferences in QuickBooks Mac. If you have concerns about your entries such as sales or expenses, you're more than welcome to add the details to your reply. I'm here to help.

Did this ever get resolved for you?

I'm having the identical issue. I was using Quickbooks Mac Desktop 2022 and now tried 2023. Issue persists in both. I checked and repaired the file. Same issue.

If I'm trying to fill in the blank 'Payee' field in the downloaded transactions window - I click the first letter and it auto fills something and puts the cursor at the end of what it auto filled. I then have to delete a bunch of characters to get to the second character location... I click a new letter and it fills in something else... again putting the insertion at the end of the item. I HAVE AUTO FILL TURNED OFF! - this is insane and making me crazy. Clearly not the only one. I also have the same issue when in the find dialog box too. What is going on with auto fill and is there a fix?
