Does anyone know how to have your credit card transactions download to the software after a card number has been changed due to fraud?

I’m glad to see you in the Community, Docferro.

When you edit the account information, we’ll have to unlink first the connection for your credit card. Then add the new account as a separate register and merge it to the previous one. I’ll help and guide you on how to accomplish this task.

To disconnect:

  1. Tap the Banking menu on the left panel and choose the Banking tab.
  2. Select your credit card from the linked accounts to see the Edit account info option.update acct.png
  3. This action will open the Account window.
  4. Scroll down to the Connected to section and tick the box for Disconnect this account on save.update acct.1.png
  5. Press Save and Close.

To add the credit card:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu on the left panel and pick Chart of Accounts.
  2. Press the New button in the upper right to open the Account window.
  3. From there, click the Account Type drop-down to choose Credit Card and select Credit Card from the Detail Type drop-down.
  4. Enter the updated credential for your account in the Name and Number fields.
  5. Fill in the remaining boxes.
  6. Click Save and Close.

Next, merge the accounts. Please know that you’ll not lose any transactions during the merging process. All entries will go to the new credit card account.

Check this guide for detailed instructions: Merge duplicate accounts, customers, and vendors in QuickBooks Online. Then proceed directly to the Merge duplicate accounts section.

Once done, connect the credit card again to your online banking. For future reference, let me share this article to keep your transactions organized: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. It outlines the complete steps on how to match with an existing transaction, add a new one, and review multiple matches.

Drop a comment below if you have any clarifications about the process or the bank feeds-related concerns. I’ll get back to help and make sure you’re taken care of. Have a great weekend.
