HI. QBO used to match transactions from my downloaded list to my register. Now when I select Match on the right hand side of the list it just ADDs it to the register.

How can I get QBO to MATCH the transactions like it used to rather than adding the downloaded transaction and leaving my register entry uncleared?

I'm pleased to help you match your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and will also share additional information about it, @newbytoo.

There are a few reasons why you're unable to detect a match in the For Review tab of certain transactions, do due to the following:

  • The transactions entered in QBO don't match the number, amount, date, or payee of your downloaded bank deposits.
  • The transaction/s you want to match have reconciled.
  • The transaction entered in QBO has already matched another downloaded transaction.
  • There’s a multicurrency issue with the exchange rates, or the transaction doesn't pass through the home currency at some point.

After confirming everything, we can utilize the Find Match feature to show all potentially matched transactions. Then, review the list of possible matches and select one if you find it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Banking.
  2. From the For Review tab, click on the transactions you think have a match.
  3. Select the Find match circle to view the list of possible match transactions.

  4. Tick the check box if you see one that match.

  5. Then select Save to save changes.
