Hi Can I assign multiple transactions to the same account at once? Or do I have to do them individually?

Welcome to the Community, @sales.

I'll share some information about your concern in assigning multiple transactions to the same account at once in QuickBooks Online.

Before we proceed, could you please let me know which transactions you would like to reclassify? Since, some transactions may not be reclassified due to their connection to specific accounts and features. I appreciate any details you can provide. I’m looking forward to your reply.

If you are currently using QuickBooks Online Advance or QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can use the reclassify tool to make changes to multiple transactions at once to save you time. Here's how:

In QuickBooks Online Accountant:

  1. Open your client’s QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select the Accountant Tools, then Reclassify transactions.

In QuickBooks Online Advanced:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2.  Click on the Gear Icon, then Reclassify transactions.

Once the tool is open, here's what you'll do next:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu. Then, choose Reclassify Transactions.
  2. From the Account types dropdown menu, select Profit and Loss to see income and expense accounts. Or select Balance Sheet to see your asset, liability, and equity accounts.
  3. From the Account list, select the account with the transactions you want to change.
  4. Use these types, class, customer/vendor, and modify filters to filter the list. You can also select Accrual to see all paid and unpaid transactions or Cash to see only paid transactions.
  5. Click Find Transactions.
  6. Choose the checkbox for each transaction you want to change.
  7. Tap Reclassify.
  8. Select a new account to move the transactions to from the Change account to dropdown, a new class from Change class to dropdown, or a new location from the Change location to dropdown.
  9. When you’re ready, press Apply.

Furthermore, you can check this article to learn about types of transactions you can’t move when reclassifying.

Additionally, I've included an article about the maximum number of billable and accountant users you can add to QuickBooks, also how to review downloaded bank and credit card transactions:

How do you do this if you are not an accountant?

Welcome back to the Community, MichaelinNOVA.

The steps shared in Shania_C's post cover how to reclassify transactions in QuickBooks Online Advanced. That's how you can use your reclassify tool is opened you can batch edit transactions with the steps from their post.

If you're not currently subscribed to an Advanced plan, you can upgrade any time. After upgrading, you'll have access to the reclassify transactions tool.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in as a primary or company admin.
  2. Use the Gear icon, then go to Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Confirm your payment details are up-to-date.
  4. In the QuickBooks Online section, click Upgrade your plan.
  5. Review your available plans and hit Choose plan.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to finish upgrading.

I've also included a detailed resource about upgrading which may come in handy moving forward: Upgrade or downgrade your subscription

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great Thursday!

Hi Can I assign multiple transactions to the same account at once? Or do I have to do them individually?

I'm running Quickbooks Enterprise Desktop.

Those options are not available.

I want to be able to highlight several transactions. possibly filter and select all that meet the filter, and then modify them as a group to change the account they are applied to.

Let's say for example, that you had a rule in banking that went and applied all Walmart purchases to Repairs and Maintenance, but some of them are supposed to be Cost of Good sold. Other than doing all 150 of them by hand one at a time, what should one do to correct that.

NOTE: DESKTOP ENTERPRISE EDITION 24

Hi Can I assign multiple transactions to the same account at once? Or do I have to do them individually?

Thanks for alerting us, MichaelinNOVA. I know a solution to get your transactions posted to Cost of Goods sold in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You can utilize the Reclassify Transactions tool in QBDT to save you time moving your transactions to a specific account. This feature helps correct entries assigned to the wrong accounts or classes. First, make sure to select the fiscal year you want to modify. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. From the Accountant menu, select Client Data Review.
  3. Select Client Data Review.
  4. Click on Modify Review, then select OK.
  5. In the Review Date Range section, click on the date range of transactions you want to review.
  6. In the Review Basis section, choose Accrual or Cash.
  7. Select Modify Review. You’ll see Start Review the first time you use it, and Modify Review for subsequent uses.
  8. In the Account Balances section, find Reclassify Transactions. From the Status dropdown, select In Progress.
  9. Select Close.

When done, follow Steps 2 and 3 in this article to proceed: Accountant tools: Reclassify your client’s transactions.

Once everything is set up, you can reconcile your accounts so they match your bank or credit card statements and get books accurate.
