It's good seeing you here in the Community!

Let me provide you with some information about making your bank account inactive in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please note that before making your account inactive, you'll need to disconnect it first from online banking. This action will prevent your account from pulling transactions from your online bank to your QuickBooks bank feeds.

Moving forward, ensure that there are no bank errors before disconnecting your account. If there are errors, make sure to fix them first before you disconnect.

Here's how to disconnect:

  1. Go to Transactions, and click Bank transactions.

  2. Choose the tile for the bank account you want to disconnect.
  3. Click on the pencil icon, then hit Edit account info.

  4. Tick on the Disconnect this account checkbox.
  5. Once done, click Save and Close.

Finally, you can now make your account inactive.

Furthermore, I'm adding this article if you change your mind and want to reactivate your account: Make an account active again.

Return to this post if you have other concerns about disconnecting and deactivating your account in QuickBooks Online. I'll be here to lend a hand.

Thank you for your response. I'd already taken that step. The bank account no longer shows under bank transactions, but transactions are still being pulled in.

Did you get an answer?  My client has an old, closed bank account that keeps reactivating when she pays her payroll tax in Quickbooks Online
