Yes, you can import employees’ hours from a third-party app into QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can utilize an importer tool to obtain this. Visit our Apps Center or go to your Apps menu to find one.
Here’s how:
QuickBooks also offers integration to several applications so users can manage their data more efficiently. If your tracking app is one of the supported applications, you can connect it directly to QuickBooks. This way, your employees’ hours automatically sync.

Thank you so much! I've been trying to get this info for a month. We are currently using Desktop Pro. I can't find where I would import Payroll data. I can only find where to import lists under the File Tab- Utilities. Am I in the wrong place?
Thanks for posting your concern here in the Community, @jillirwin. I’ll provide some information about your concern when importing your files in QuickBooks Desktop.
In the meantime, we’re unable to import payroll data into QuickBooks Desktop Pro.
If you don’t have payroll on your account, you can enter them on your Journal Entry. If you have payroll on your Journal Entry, you can import it into QuickBooks.
As a workaround, you’ll want to consider looking for a 3rd party app from QuickBooks Apps. From there, you can compare their features and choose which one best suits your needs.
On the other hand, you can import lists and transactions using the Intuit Interchange Format (IIF) files. Here’s an article for the steps-by-step process: Export, import, and edit IIF files.
If you’d like to export payroll data from QuickBooks, you can use the Summarize Payroll Data in Excel report. Check out this article for the more details: Export payroll data.

Utilize the importer tool and the template I mentioned earlier. You can also use the same tool to import JE and many other transactions types into QBD Pro. You will purchase the one time license of it.
