Imported reconcilitations

I have a client who converted from the desktop version to the online version. There has been a change in management so we do not have the desktop version. The bank accounts were reconciled incorrectly in the desktop version, is there a way for me to unreconcile these accounts in the online version? Thanks in advance.

Which QB Desktop year version did they use? You can open the last backup file on the trial license of a QB Desktop program to fix the reconciliation and convert it again to QBO.

Good day, @Andrea Davis.

Let me help you fix your reconciliation in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can follow the suggested workaround that was shared by Fiat Lux - ASIA to correct your reconciled transactions.

Aside from that, you can also fix them inside QBO. Simply open your account's register and toggle your transactions reconciliation status until you undo them. Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top, then select Chart of Accounts
  2. Locate the appropriate account for the transaction and select View Register under the Action column.
  3. Find the transaction. If it's reconciled, you’ll see an “R” in the checkmark ✔ column.
  4. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  5. In the checkmark ✔ column, click the box with the “R” until the box is blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Close the account register.

To know more about the steps you should take after moving from QuickBooks Desktop file to QBO, please see this additional guide: What to do after you move from QBDT for Windows to QuickBooks Online.

That should do it! Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment on this thread. I'd be glad to answer if you have any follow-up questions about undoing reconciliation. Take care and have a good one!
