In QB desktop I accept payments & make a deposit to 1 account, then add new lines for subaccounts as a negative number to split the $$ up. Can this be done in QB On-line?

Our QB checking account has several subaccounts where we allow funds to accrue for specific purposes.  I would like to be able to direct those various $ amounts to the several subaccounts as I make the deposit, as I could using the desktop version.  Otherwise, I wind up doing about 10 account transfers, which is a pain.  TYIA.

I'd be glad to provide some insights about making a bank deposit in QuickBooks Online, @beadcrazy5-gmail.

When recording a bank deposit in QBO, you can add new lines and direct those various $ amounts to several subaccounts. Take note that each bank deposit creates a separate record in QuickBooks. Make deposits one at a time for each of your deposit slips.

Here's how:

  1. Click + New.
  2. Choose Bank Deposit.
  3. From the Account ▼ dropdown, choose the account you want to put the money into.
  4. Click the checkbox for each transaction you want to combine.
  5. Make sure the total of the selected transactions matches your deposit slip. Use your deposit slip as a reference.
  6. Once done, click Save and close or Save and new.

For more information, you may also check out this article: Record and make bank deposits in QuickBooks Online. It also includes steps on how to review and delete past bank deposits.

I'm also adding this link to learn how to put payments into the Undeposited Funds account before you combine them into a deposit: Deposit payments into the Undeposited Funds account in QuickBooks Online.

Hi - thank you for your response.  I understand what you outlined below, and did it this way to make a bank deposit.  But I could not figure out HOW to add lines to the deposit.

Can you tell me step by step how to add new lines?

TYIA.
