Linking with bank account nightmare. Again.

To whoever can read this...I have had trouble with Square and QB (someone) producing duplicate invoices so after a long battle with that and no help I disconnected invoices from QB. Now I am having trouble with linking my bank account (Bank of America) with QB. I have had trouble before with the bank connecting and now I ended up with duplicate (quickbooks forced me to make and name new account which already existed, why in the world would someone program this to do that!) and now I have duplicate old and new savings, checking, credit, etc accounts to review. Some transactions appear in an older account (which is the real one) and a whole new bunch in the "new" accounts. I hardly had the time to review them the first time. Why in theworld would I have to rename every expense, etc. if they already exist and they're labeled and reviewed. I even have the list of these already printed from Jan 31. And of course deleting these new account (if possible) will likely bring the end of times along with it when it comes to matching and unlinking, etc. I wonder if the programmers actually use this program as intended when making them. I am just going to have to unlink my Bank of America accounts and everything else from QB since it doesn't seem to do anything normal or logical. I can add all my own expenses without the exaggerated hassle on a spreadsheet. This is ridiculous! This has got to be the most user UNFRIENDLY program on Earth.

Linking with bank account nightmare. Again.

Hi, jmphoenix2000.

QuickBooks will automatically download your most recent or 90 days' worth of transactions when you connect to your bank for the first time. If you've been manually entering your transactions into QuickBooks, this will result in duplicates in the program.

We can correct this by UNDOing the downloaded statements and matching them to your manually added transactions or excluding them in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how to undo the transactions:

  1. Click Transactions and choose Banking.
  2. Go to the Categorized tab.
  3. Locate the transaction and hit Undo.z.PNG

If you decide to remove them from the duplicates, we can do so by following the steps outlined below:

  1. Click Banking in the left panel and choose Banking.
    z.PNG
  2. In the For Review tab, select the imported transactions that are appearing twice.
  3. Tap on the Exclude button.
    x.PNG
  4. If you want to delete the transactions, go to the Excluded tab and select the transactions.
  5. Hit the Delete button.

We can read the articles below for more information on how the excluding process works, as well as which banks use OAuth and how it affects you:

Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Keep in touch if you have other questions in mind about QuickBooks. I'll make sure to get back to you as quickly as I can. Have a nice day!

Linking with bank account nightmare. Again.

I want to know why I have duplicate bank accounts (some accounts say DELETED but still exist with data) and transactions appear on there in a crazy random order. I basically have 4 REAL bank accounts but now I have 8 in QB. Is there a way to completely delete these accounts created? I would hate to UN do and delete or exclude dozens of transactions (due to the time it would take and also nothing ever gets deleted in QB, it just gets set aside to haunt you later in a deleted section) My transactions for this month are NOT appearing and I have duplicates of random transactions from my bank in random dates in QB. I don't know how else to explain it but this is unreal.

Linking with bank account nightmare. Again.

Hello there, @questions2023.

I want to ensure you're able to manage your bank accounts and transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). But, I have to gather some information about your concern to ensure I can provide the best solution. Can you share the name of your financial institution? Are you trying to exclude your duplicate transactions?

While we wait for the information, you can learn more about reviewing downloaded bank and credit card transactions in QBO by checking out this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me updated in the comments below. Hope to hear from you as soon as possible. Take care and stay safe!
