Loan manager QB 2022

Instead of all of us customers trying to find loan amortization schedules, etc. on line - WHY DOESN'T INTUIT STEP UP AND PROVIDE IT????  Intuit got rid of it  - without notice - Intuit needs to provide a viable fix.

I'm interested as well! Do you have it going yet?

Loan manager QB 2022

I do have it working, but I need to work out the details of making it available. Any support would be limited, and the necessary disclaimers concerning liability and warranties need to be established. It pretty much looks like the original loan manager.

What app is that?

Loan manager QB 2022

It's a desktop app that I created a while back. I suspended development due to other priorities, but recently resumed. There were a few challenges in terms of matching the payment schedule, but I've added a Periodic mode which is working well. I've been able to solve a few loan requirements of my own where it's relatively easy to generate Bills that contain two line items of Principle and Interest. Having the Bills is really helpful when matching the actual loan payments via the Bank Feeds.  The app is standalone and connects to QB as an external app conforming to the QB access requirements. I've also added a table that shows the existing Bills associated with the loan.

In order to make this available, it's necessary to sort out the liability and support requirements which would be extremely limited.

Loan manager QB 2022

I'll be reaching out to a lawyer/specialist to determine how best to protect myself from liability which I believe may be  in the form of a EULA.  Unfortunately this is an absolute necessity.

The initial LM utility will be in Beta form, and I'm not necessarily looking to monetize the Beta period which would be limited to a number of months. Should at some point there be a cost, consideration would be given to the number of companies being licensed, but not the number of loans per company.

The liability & licensing aside, the LM utility works well. I recently used it to catch up on billing entries  that were subsequently linked to related payments retrieved in the Bank Feeds area. And despite the various interest methods (30/360, Actual/365, etc), I arrived at an interest methodology that reproduces payment schedules that match existing loan schedules to a degree that's precise enough for me.

The utility is an external application that communicates to QBD using its standard SDK.

So here are the things that need to be addressed before posting a Beta:

  • Establish a EULA (or something similar) for basic protections
  • Establish a Beta period where LMU could be put into use
    • the idea is to get feedback for fixes and improvements
    • buy additional time for a formal production release
    • and ideally not place restrictions on the generated bills
  • Organize some type of information & discussion forum
    • Likely I'll be unavailable for support but the utility should be simple enough to use
  • Organize basic documentation describing usage and limitations
    • The user would ultimately be responsible for the generated bills
    • BTW, the generated bills were in my case easy to delete and recreate
    • Also, I have no plans to provide support in this regard.
    • Perhaps a discussion forum would help to provide some degree of support
  • Work out a distribution channel that would include licensing support
    • the idea of licensing is not meant to be an onerous issue; it's to cover the basics
    • as there are time, legal, and distribution costs, there will likely be a reasonable
      charge at some point.

I hope this helps to clarify where I'm at. I'm also super busy paying the bills with other huge projects.

I respect your diligence, bvj.  It serves to make me that much more confident in the product you will offer.  Looking forward to your beta testing period!

Loan manager QB 2022

Well,

Here it is May 28th, 2024 and I've installed with the help of Intuit..let me not express my TOTAL LACK OF EXPERIENCE AND ISSUES that came about with the first lady who helped me...if you can call it help that is...

I'm prob replying to a "qb person" that isn't even still at QB anyway so this is prob all for not....

BUT ....I completely agree with how QB has MISHANDLED this whole removing of loan manager...I bet QB didn't NOT tell us users/buyers that the price increase is not going to happen...or give us something that works...why do I as your customer now have to go back and RECREATE/FIND all my loan infor on ALL my loans...this is completely ridiculous...hopefully I will be able to find another solution for my accounting needs before I upgrade again.  Maybe I'll look into Netsuite or Xero or Sage or heck maybe even buildertrend...so much for getting QB to help as they should be.
