Loan Manager

Hello.  I recently backed up a copy of my QB Desktop Pro 2018 file to take to my accountant, we made some changes to the file so I restored the backup upon returning to my QB on my Desktop.  My Loan Manager was then no longer in my QB.  I have researched the issue, and I tried the resolve of locating my old .lmr file on my backups in my desktop, and I copied and pasted that .lmr file into my current company file.  There is still nothing showing up in my Loan Manager.  I did fail to rename the file before copying and pasting it into my current company file, so I am unsure if I have done something wrong.  I am only able to locate 2 .lmr files on my backups currently.  One is 2 kb, and the other 68 kb.  I assume that the larger of the two files should be the correct one so I tried these steps again with no luck.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Loan Manager

Hello, Jennifer.

I appreciate your efforts in resolving the Loan Manager issue. I'll lend my hand and provide details and steps to fix this.

After copying and pasting the .LMR file, I take it that the Loan Manager didn't show any data. If that's the case, there are restrictions when an Accountant's copy is created from the original file.

If you've entered new loans, then these will disappear after importing the changes to avoid redundancy and issues on your books. To fix this, you'll simply want to enter the loans again.

More details about the Accountant's Copy issues can be found here: Resolve errors and unexpected results when importing accountant's changes.

If this isn't the case, or if the Loan Manager is missing or not working as it should, then we can do the following steps to resolve this.

First, let's go back to that .LMR file and rename it. Ensure that it has the same name as the company file.

Next, you'll want to make sure that Internet Explorer uses compatibility view for all websites. QuickBooks uses IE to display data from add-ons and built-in web pages.

Here's how to enable it:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click the Tools (gear icon), then choose Compatibility View Settings.
  3. Check Display intranet sites in Compatibility View.
  4. Click Close

Lastly, if the Loan Manager is still missing or not working properly, we can run the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub installer
  3. Open the installer after downloading it, then install the Tool Hub.
  4. Run the Tool Hub by clicking on the desktop icon.
  5. In QuickBooks Tools Hub, choose Program Problems.
  6. Select Quick Fix my Program.

After running the tool, open QuickBooks Desktop again then check to see if the Loan Manager service is working again.

If you need help with it, you can check this article: QuickBooks Loan Manager.

You can also go to our general support page with articles if you need help with something in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can still ask a question if you need help with the Loan Manager. If you have other concerns regarding the program, please include them in your reply.
