My Bank login recently required 2-Factor Auth. QB Online allows me to enter the 2nd factor password when I press the 'Update' button and successfully pulls the transactions from the bank accounts. HOWEVER, when I navigate within the QB Online application to certain places, say "Categorized' to see my previously categorized transactions for a Bank - it hangs for a very long time (3-5 minutes) and finally brings up the Categorized transactions list. This did not happen before 2-Factor Auth was involved. Could clicking on certain navigation items in QB Online attempt a connection and hang due to the Bank interface expecting 2-Factor and then time out before displaying contents? AND if so how can that be turned off so that ONLY clicking on the 'Update' button which invokes the connection to the bank trigger a bank connection and nothing else?

QuickBooks multi-factor authentication is only required when you log in to your account and not when updating the bank. That said, I'd recommend that you contact your financial institution in this regard. They have a way of disabling the bank verification functionality.
For now, I'd suggest doing some basic troubleshooting steps to help fix the lag. To start, please log in to your account through incognito to verify if it's a browser-related issue.

From there, re-update and re-run your categorize transaction list to confirm if it's already functioning well. If it works, return to your regular browser and press the CTRL+ Shift and Delete keys on your keyboard to clear the cache.

There's no difference in-cognito. Just to be clear I am NOT using QB 2-factor I am using the Bank's 2-factor and QB us correctly asking me and connecting when I enter the Bank's dynamic authentication token.

This authentication was implemented by your bank to safeguard your account. The option to turn this off isn't possible in QuickBooks. I'd recommend contacting your bank. They can remove the 2-factor authentication within QBO.
