My accounts are missing expense transactions from credit card sync. Is there a way to recover transactions from a specific period of time via sync?

Odd sync behavior. My payments imported, but the expense for the same period did not. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi there, marklay22. This odd syncing behavior can indeed be frustrating and disruptive to your financial records.

First, could you tell me the name of the financial institution associated with your credit card that is connected to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account? Any additional information will allow us to verify the issue at hand.

Also, once you connect an account for online banking, QuickBooks will download the 90 days or less of your entries. This process is automatic and cannot be opted out.

In the meantime, we'll manually update your credit card account to download the missing transactions. It will help to refresh the connection between your bank and QuickBooks. Like this:

  1. Go to Transactions.
  2. Select Bank transactions.
  3. Click on Update.

After that, you can check the For review tab to find the missing transaction. If the issue persists, see this article for additional troubleshooting steps: What to do if you can’t find downloaded transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Otherwise, you can also check your Banking menu again to ensure you're selecting the correct tile for the credit card account from which you downloaded the transaction.

Additionally, you can now categorize your transactions in QBO after downloading them.

Your attention to detail in your accounts is commendable, marklay22. I'll also keep an eye on this thread if you still have other concerns or follow-up questions about banking. Have a wonderful day!

American Express and Wells Fargo appear to be missing transactions. Chase accounts did not have any issue.

We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and providing your financial institution, Mark. We received several reports about missing transactions in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks downloads transactions every night around 10 PM PT. To ensure you have the most recent transactions, perform a manual update as recommended by my colleague above.

Also, QuickBooks if bank transaction status is pending. We can contact our bank to see if there is ongoing maintenance on the bank’s end or announcements about new security requirements.

Additionally, we can manually upload transactions via CSV file. This method will allow you to ensure that your transaction data is up-to-date and accurately reflected in your records while we resolve the underlying problem.

I've included these resources to assist you in redoing your reconciliation in the future and to help you track the results afterward:

If you need assistance with the CSV file uploading process, leave us a comment. We'll be happy to help.

I am still missing all transactions from 2/19 to 6/20 for American Express. I have checked the banking section and the registers.

Either the system does not download automatically without a login or there was an issue with American Express synch that was repaired (I see transactions after 6/11).

Please let me know if I need to do a manual record download/import or if there is another solution.

Thank you.

I appreciate what you've done so far, Mark. Let me assist you further and help you bring the missing transactions to your QuickBooks account.

There are possible reasons why the transactions are not showing up. It could be due to connectivity issues, or the bank's server might be down for maintenance.

When you connect a bank account to QBO, the number of transactions you can retrieve depends on your financial institution. Some banks allow you to download at least 30 to 90 days of transactions, while others can provide up to a year.

Since you already checked in the banking menu and Bank Register, you can request your bank for a CSV file and Import data through the Gear icon.

Otherwise, you can manually upload it by following the steps below:

  1. From the Transactions tab, select Bank transactions.
  2. In the Link account drop-down, select Upload from file.

  3. Click the Drag and drop or select files button.
  4. Select the CSV file and then open it.
  5. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks.
  7. Select the transactions, and then click Yes.
  8. Once done, click Let's Go.

Moreover, you can visit this article for more details on uploading transactions in QuickBooks: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Once you get your transactions into QuickBooks, you'll want to match and categorize them. The transactions go into your accounts after you review them.

Additionally, ensure to reconcile your accounts to keep them accurate and up-to-date.
