Need to reconnect bank accounts every day

I have 2 separate accounts under my QBO login...one is for business, one is for personal accounts. I have the same bank (TD Bank) with different accounts for each and recently every day I have to reset my bank connection with TD Bank...It had not happened like this for over a year but now it happens all the time....What can be done to prevent this? Would consolidating my 2 accounts (business and personal) into one help?

Thanks,

Steve

Need to reconnect bank accounts every day

Hello there, @mbpros. Let's figure out the cause of why your bank accounts are being disconnected in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Usually, this will happen once your two TD bank accounts have the same login. If you connect your personal bank account, your business bank account will be disconnected, and vice versa. To prevent this, note that you can only connect one bank account in QBO and manually upload transactions for the one account. Beforehand, make sure to switch to an Accountant view before following the steps below.

  1. In Transactions, choose Bank Transactions and select the account blue tile where you want to upload your transactions.
  2. Click the Link account dropdown and hit Upload from the file
  3. Take Drag and drop or select files then select the file you transferred from your bank, then click Continue.
  4. Select the account you want to upload the transactions in the QuickBooks account dropdown and choose Continue
  5. Pay attention to the onscreen process of matching the file columns with the correct fields in QuickBooks and choose Continue.
  6. Decide what transaction you wish to import and click Continue, and Yes, then select Done

However, if your bank account has different login credentials, checking any notifications or alerts regarding this issue on your bank website is recommended.

On the other hand, you need to match your bank statements and your recorded transactions in QBO by reconciling. With this, you can check this link to help you handle further your account inside QBO: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I'm ready to back you up if you need more help with your bank connections in QBO. I'll keep the thread open so you can comment back. Keep safe.

Thank you...I do have one web login for TD Bank for all of my accounts...business and personal....but also a separate login for just business...So I'll try using the separate TD Bank logins and see if that helps!

I did try the separate TD Bank logins I have (one for business, one for all) but that option did not work...Still had to reconnect today.  Oh, well.

Hello! Did you ever get this issue resolved? I seem to have to re-connect constantly as well. It's TD bank too. Just wondering if you found out the reason and solution.

Thank you for participating in this conversation, Hess. I appreciate you letting me know which financial institution you've chosen for your banking needs.

Bank account disconnections often occur when identical login credentials are used for multiple accounts. You can refer to the information provided by my colleague KayePe for more details about this matter.

However, if you're experiencing disconnections with only one TD Bank account connected, I recommend accessing your bank's official website directly. This step can help you identify any existing issues that might be affecting your account connectivity. This way, you'll be able to verify whether the frequent disconnections are a result of technical difficulties or enhanced security measures implemented by the bank.

After verifying that your bank account is functioning, I recommend contacting our customer support team for additional help. Our live support staff has access to specialized tools that enable them to examine your concern through a shared screen session. This approach enables a thorough understanding of the issue you are experiencing. They can also launch a formal investigation by submitting a support ticket if necessary. This process ensures that your concern receives thorough attention and increases the likelihood of finding an effective solution.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Select the Search tab and hit Contact Us.
  3. Click the Ask about something else tab.
  4. Key in your concern and hit Continue.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
  • Have us call you - Get a call from a support expert.
  • Chat with us - Start a conversation with a support expert.
