Printing Checks

Thanks for visiting the Community, @tnmdairy.

Unable to print from QuickBooks may be caused by different reasons. Let's start by checking if you have started the following.

To be begin with, let's use Notepad to determine if your printer can print outside of QuickBooks.

  1. From your Windows Start and browse to Notepad.
  2. Enter some text and choose File, then Print.
  3. Select the correct printer and Hit Print.

If that doesn't work, let's use your printer properties to print a test page.

  1. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  2. Make sure the printer paper is loaded correctly.
  3. Select the Windows Start button, browse to the Control Panel, and double-click Printers and Faxes.
  4. If the printer shows Offline, right-click the printer and then Use Printer Online.
  5. Double-click the printer and if there are print jobs displayed in the queue, choose Printer, then Cancel All Documents.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Right-click the printer, hover to Properties, then Print Test Page.

Note: If the printer is a network printer and the test page does not print, network issues could be the cause.

For reference, you can check this article for details about resolving printing issues.

If the issue persists, you can look for more guides on how to troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Please get back to me if you have other questions. I'd be happy to help. Enjoy the rest of the day!

Printing Checks

Thank you for getting back to me and providing me with some trouble shooting tips. I ended up downloading and running the Quickbooks Tool Hub and that seemed to take care of the print window issue and I was able to select a different printer.

Thanks for following up with the Community, tnmdairy.

I'm happy to hear Jovychris_A's information was helpful and that you were able to print checks again after using our QuickBooks Tool Hub.

The tools you'll find there come in handy for other situations too, such as problems with a company file, networking errors, installation issues, password resets, etc.

I've included a few resources about using your tool hub and printing checks that may come in handy moving forward:
