Join nowJust upgraded to QB 2020 for Mac desktop and it is incredibly slow to input transactions. Any solutions?
Hello there, hatterphoto.
I have checked on my end if we have an open case about this, and I can't find anything at this time. However, we can verify on your bank's end if they have ongoing page maintenance that causes the transactions to download slowly.
We can get your bank's URL through QuickBooks. I'll show you how:
Then, let's check your account page for any message, notification, or alerts about page maintenance.
Also, can you tell me the name of your bank provider? This way, I can further check for any issue that specifies your financial institution.
Once you've downloaded all the transactions, you can start categorizing them.
Feel free to post again if you still need help in categorizing the transactions. Thanks for dropping by!
I guess I wasn't quite clear. The downloading of bank transactions is fine, it is on the process to categorize them that is extremely slow. It is a QB issue, not my banking institution. I saw there was some fixes for PC based QB that involved downloading a "toolkit" of some kind. Does this apply to the Mac version as well?
Thank you for clarifying the issue, @hatterphoto. To isolate this case, let's perform some troubleshooting by perfoming Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks for Mac. The damage can often be repaired by rebuilding/verifying to scan your company file for error or data damage. I'll show you how:
Here's how to run Verify Data:
Once done verified your data, you can run rebuild your company file to fix any errors or damage that found.
Here;s how to run Rebuild Data:
A. If you haven’t set up any backup preferences, QuickBooks will ask you to update them. Select Backup Preferences and edit as needed, then click OK.
B. When the backup's finished, select Show in Finder to locate the backup or press OK if you’re done.
4. When the backup's finished, choose Show in Finder to locate the backup or tap OK if you’re done.
5. Once the rebuild's finished, hit OK.
After verifying and rebuilding data, you can close and reopen your file after revamp it.
For additional information on this, I recommend the following article: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
That should get you on the right track. Please let me know how that works. I'm here to provide any additional assistance if needed. Have a good one.
I have been having the same issue. I tried the suggestions and am still having problems. It takes an extreme amount of time each time I click on anything, including menu choices. Please advise.
Thanks for performing the suggested resolutions on this thread, @KCD1.
Since you're still having the same issue, I'd recommend contacting our QB Mac Customer Care team at this point so they can check to determine the cause of this problem and help you fix it.
They can also help submit a request to further investigate the issue whenever necessary.
