QBW data file is on the large size (400MB) but performs fine except on the first click related to bank feed when the program does not respond for almost two minuets. At first we thought the program had hung but it always comes back and works normally after the pause.

Thanks for the suggestion bu just to be clear about the situation, Quickbooks does not stop working, it just takes a short 90 second pause while it goes off and does something triggered by opening the Bank Feeds Center (lots of ways to do this).
On the one suggestion about Company Name being too long. Is the Company Name shown on the My Company dialog or the the QB File name the potential problem?
As to the other possibilities I have tried this on multiple Windows 10 computers with the same result.
I did try shortening the file name to no effect. In looking at the Task Manager I found that at the moment I clicked on Bank Feeds the Windows Local Security Authority Process shot to 15% CPU usage. The process returned to 0% CPU as soon as the Feed window popped up. I'm guessing some relationship?
Thanks for the detailed information, Murphy.
When opening the Bank Feed Center, it is normal that the CPU usage would increase. This is because QuickBooks is accessing the internet to get the data from your bank.
In relation to accessing internet, we'd recommend making Internet Explorer (IE) as your default browser. You can also refer to this article for more information: Verify and Troubleshoot QuickBooks Desktop and Internet Explorer Settings.
Meanwhile, "Change the file name" troubleshooting steps will only take effect if you have a damaged company file. Network issues can sometimes cause QuickBooks to load than usual. You can check out this article for more information: QuickBooks File Doctor - Fix Your Damaged Company File or Network.
If the same thing happens, I'd recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Technical Support Team. so they can further investigate this matter. You can follow the steps that JaneRoseB provided to reach them (on the earlier replies).
