QBO is creating a transaction from a recurring transaction that I deleted months ago.

I talked with support about this a few months ago but they weren't able to provide an answer. I don't know what to do next. QBO continues to create a transaction on the first of each month based on a previous recurring transaction that I deleted months ago. Can someone help me?

QBO is creating a transaction from a recurring transaction that I deleted months ago.

I see how essential it is to stop producing transactions based on a deleted recurring template to keep your record accurate, wreade78. I'm here to help you address this matter by ensuring the recurring template is removed accordingly.

To begin with, let's check the audit log to confirm the removal of the recurring template or if you've deleted a different one. If you've discarded the wrong template, recreate it using the details from the audit log and delete the appropriate one. Otherwise, let's verify if you've accidentally created a duplicate, which can be why Quickbooks keeps making related transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then Recurring transactions under Lists.
  2. Look for the template or any duplicate on the list.
  3. From the Action column, click the dropdown and choose Delete.
  4. Pick Yes to confirm the action.

Moreover, I recommend contacting our customer support team if the software keeps creating transactions based on the recurring template, even if you have already removed it. With their tools and expertise, they can thoroughly dig into this case and identify the most relevant fix or workaround.

On the other hand, you might want to browse this material to review the associated amounts and linked accounts of your recurring templates: Review your recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.

We'll get back to you promptly whenever you need future assistance deleting your recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online. Please add a reply below and tag us here in the Community.

@KimberlyS

Thanks for your response. Turns out, there was a duplicate transaction with a completely different name. I didn't find it before because we have lots of recurring transactions that are legitimate and the search option for recurring transactions only searches names. Since this one had a completely different name, one that I wouldn't have thought to search for, I wasn't able to find it in the past. This time, I just went through the list one by one and found it. So strange! I'm not even sure how it was created.

Oh, well. Thanks for your help!
