Quickbooks messing up balances after upgrade

Has anyone experienced Quickbooks messing up the balances after upgrading? So far, after three phone calls, I have not received any help in fixing this.  I am waiting for a supervisor to call me back.

No, I've never heard of that. What "balances" are you referring to?  How do you know they're messed up?

This isn’t the experience we want you to have, @Lesley141. I’m here to make sure this mess-up will get resolved.

You mentioned you’ve reached 3 phone calls and waiting for a supervisor to call you back. During those interactions, can you share with me the troubleshooting steps you’ve tried? Did you receive any specific messages or prompts? By this, I can explore some fixes that work best for you.

When upgrading, QuickBooks downloads, installs, and activates the new version for you. It also updates your company files. Once the process fails or the application has issues, it may affect your records, such as messing up your balances or missing transactions.

We can fix this situation through QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool from QuickBooks Tool Hub. It helps repair and eliminate issues or errors quickly. To do so, please follow the steps below:

  1. Download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub, then save it somewhere you can easily find.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Once done, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. Click on the Installation Issues tab.
  6. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.
  7. Restart your workstation after.

I appreciate your patience and effort. If you need further assistance managing your company files, please don’t hesitate to add some replies below. I want to make sure everything is taken care of. Take care always!

Quickbooks messing up balances after upgrade

Yes!! That happened to me this week! It’s only on the app, luckily. All of my past invoices are completely wrong. Each one has changed the “quantity” of my “rate” to 1…. 1?… so if I had 55 hours @$100 an hour my invoice should read $5500 ALL OF THEM NOW READ $100. It’s kind of a nightmare. Luckily they are all reading correctly on my laptop but I think I’m going to move on from Quickbooks because of this. I can no longer invoice from the app on my phone. I also have tried to call with the promise that a “supervisor” will call me back, but no one does. It made me realize I am putting my entire business info in the hands of a company where you can only talk to a bot if you have a problem. Not smart on my end.

Quickbooks messing up balances after upgrade

I appreciate you getting back to us, Misturmetals.

I know it can be rough when your balances in QuickBooks aren't showing the correct amounts, but don't sweat it. We'll get you back in balance and sort this out in just a few simple steps.

We check the file for potential data issues. To do this, we run a Rebuild and Verify on the company file. A Rebuild and Verify is designed to scan the company file for integrity issues and resolve them. I've included the steps below to run a Rebuild and Verify.

  1. From the File menu, select Utilities, then choose Rebuild Data.
  2. Click OK if you receive a prompt to back up your company file.
  3. Select Close or View Results when you get the message Rebuild has completed and proceed with the next step.

Once done, verify the data.

  1. Under the File menu, select Utilities, then choose Verify Data.
  2. Hit OK when you see the message QuickBooks detected no problem with your data.
  3. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors. If this happens, you'll need to contact our Technical Support Team. Our technical support team has the tools available to securely review your account and investigate the error messages in your QBWIN.LOG.

I've added this article for other troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the balance: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Get back to me if you have further questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. Take care and have a fantastic week!
