Trying to link my bank account to QuickBooks and I keep getting error message 108 (the bank needs you to do something at their site). Any advice on what to do?

Let's work together to resolve bank error 108 in QuickBooks Online (QBO), so we can get back to downloading transactions seamlessly, ryansweldingllc-.

If we see error 108 when checking online banking, it merely indicates that your bank or credit card has posted a notice to their website. Messages, particularly those relating to updates, may prevent QBO from connecting. Since you've already reached out to your bank and confirmed there's no ongoing maintenance on their end, let's perform other troubleshooting options so we can download your latest bank transactions.

Before that, may I know what financial institution (FI) you've connected to QBO?? This way, we can update you if there's an in-progress investigation regarding your financial institution and provide you with workarounds, if there are any. First, let's update your bank connections in QBO. Here's how:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, and select Transactions.
  2. Choose Bank transactions.
  3. Click Update.

If the issue persists, we can manually import transactions into QBO. Before doing so, let's open and review the file from your bank to ensure it's in the correct format. For more information on fixing bank errors, feel free to visit this link: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, please contact our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter Payroll account is placed on hold in the What can we help you with? text area.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Click Chat with us or Have us call you.
