Unmatch in Bank Feed QB desktop NOT ONLINE

How do I unmatch something in the bank feed in QB desktop Pro latest version? I find instructions for online but not desktop. Under tab "added to register" there is a transaction that I added incorrectly by "adding details" when I meant to match it to a bill. I want it to go back into "unrecognized" tab so I can match it correctly. How do I undo this transaction. I know I can go to the register and manually delete it, which I did. However, I would have still liked to match it to the bill. Instead I pulled up the bill and "paid" it so the accounting was right. 

 

In short, how do I "undo" or "unmatch" what is under the "Added to Register" tab? Please make sure instructions are for desktop, not online version.

I'd like to shed some more light on managing downloaded bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. 

 

QuickBooks Desktop doesn't have the Undo button feature, like in the Online version. 

 

I see that you've already deleted and created a manual payment for the bill. This is actually the only way to remove the incorrectly added transaction from your register. 

 

However, the downloaded transaction will be completely deleted from the Bank Feeds. It won't appear under the Unrecognized tab.

 

So, you would want to disregard the Bank Feeds process for this transaction only and continue in recording the bill payment manually. 

 

Regarding the auto-matched transactions, you would still have a chance to correct them. In the Desktop version,  auto-matched transactions will show up under the Recognized tab. 

 

To un-match them, click the arrow icon under the ACTION column, then select Not a match

You mentioned that the desktop version does not let you Undo bank feed transactions like the online version does. Is this why the Added to Register tab clears out each time I logs out? I have been trying to find a way to keep that tab populated but it doesn't seem to do that as it does in the Online version. Thanks, for your help.

Yes, the Added tab is cleared out each time your log out, fcole.

 

Right now, you need to delete matched transactions from the register in QuickBooks Desktop. Please take note that deleting means taking out the transactions completely.

 

If you want to bring in those deleted transactions again, you can import bills. Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your bank and download the transaction as .QBO file.
  2. Then, in your QBDT. Go to the File menu
  3. Select Utilities then Import and then click Web Connect Files.
  4. Click the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  5. Select your bank account.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. You should see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks and select OK.
  8. Then, go to the Bank Feeds Center.

 

After you download the transactions, you need to match or add any new ones.
