Why don't have an option to split a deposit on deposits transitioned from bank? Can you only do a split if it is manually entered into QuickBook?

@nicoled0513

You should be able to split the Deposit transaction in Banking > For Review tab.

Just click the deposit transaction row in question, the screen will expand and you should see the Split button and Add button at the bottom right. See the screenshot below for reference.

Thank you.  That is what I thought and I tried again.   I noticed that on your deposit line your Action has "add" but mine has "undo'.  Do you think this is why I don't have this option?

If you see "Undo" under the Action column, it's already in the bank register.

If you need to Split deposit transaction, click the UNDO link and it will move back to "For Review" from the "Reviewed" section.

Hope this helps!

Let me share additional information, @nicoled0513.

@vpcontroller is correct! The Banking tab has three sub-sections: For Review, Reviewed (In QuickBooks) and the Excluded tab.

You can split, categorize and add more details in the For Review tab.

Once the transactions are added or matched, it will be listed under the Reviewed (In QuickBooks) tab.

On the other hand, here's how you can split your transactions:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Choose the Bank account you need to manage.
  4. From the For Review tab, locate the one large deposit.
  5. Pick the Split button.
  6. In the Split Transaction page, there are two default Payments fields, click Add lines below the second Payee drop-down.
  7. Another two fields will populate. Keep on clicking Add lines until you get the desired number you need.

  8. Fill out the necessary information for each payment.
  9. Click the Save and Close button.
