You may have other options:
1. Purchase a one time license of QBD 2021 for Mac
2. Purchase a 3rd party service to convert your QBD Mac data to QBO.
Thanks for your response.
The sales person **talked me out of** buying a 2021 one-time desktop QB license, which was my original plan, at the very beginning of the call, an hour and a half before telling me that the migration would take "3 to 5 business days." I was only told this after the QBO purchase, and after an hour-long process of getting my company file uploaded to QBO for the data entry person to work on. Upon hearing it could take several days, somewhat shocked, I explained that it might be a hardship to wait 3-5 business days to migrate a 19-MB file. THEN the tech support person said, "well .... there IS a patch I could do, but it might take a while...." Arrrgh! Why weren't these options offered to me up front? I'm frustrated that QB could have made this transition easier, but they didn't inform me of the options until I'd already invested in the new online product and given an hour and a half of my time to make the switch, knowing there would be more hours of time ahead to learn the layout of QBO and customize it so it made sense for my company needs.
Why would I purchase yet another service to do what I am already paying QBO to do?
Anyway the damage is already done, I only have 8 days to make the manifest for several of my contracts, so since I have not invoiced them and it's already December 9th, I now have to wait until mid-January to get paid for my November work. Also, as of yesterday I have bills that are overdue that are set up to pay through QB, and I will be paying late penalties on those. This is not a good time of year to not get paid on time! I feel like this problem could have been easily avoided if QB had told me UP FRONT that migrating my data for QBO could take several days, so if this was not a good time to be out of commission, I had the choice of buying the 2021 desktop version or getting a patch so that my existing software could work for a while with Mac OS12. I had no way of knowing these options, but the two QB support people DID know!
3 to 5 business days has turned into 6 business days (8 calendar days, and by the way my business does not close on weekends), as of this morning I still do not have access to my company.
I appreciate the quick response from this community. I did exactly as you suggested and got a reply email. As of yesterday evening (8PM) someone let me know they have been "assigned to my case" to do the migration, and that it could take another day or so.
Unfortunately that is too late for me to invoice my agencies, and I cannot get paid for my November hours now until mid-January, as I have to wait for the January 8th payment manifest. Although I'm not going to starve, I will certainly miss that money during the holiday season and feel a bit frustrated about it.
