I was chatting with QuickBooks support- for almost 40 minutes. Was still working through a resolution, and the agent just let the chat without any notice. I'm extremely frustrated at this. I have screenshots as well regarding the lack of support from QuickBooks and the sudden disconnect, which I uploaded just part of it. When will an actual resolution come up?
I wish you didn't have to go through all of that, @jus22.
I also want to get this fixed as soon as possible as much as you do.
I see your attached screenshot, I appreciate you for adding that and I agree that this should've been handled better. For now, allow me to give you an update regarding this issue about American Express Business Checking not being able to connect with QuickBooks.
Currently, we're unable to provide you with a timeframe as to when this will be fixed. Please know that our Product Team is working on a hand to get this sorted out. Rest assured that emails regarding the updates will be rolled out to affected users once available. If you're not yet included in the list, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team to get notified.
In addition, I've got you this article to help you manage your bank transactions in QBO: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
I'm always here to assist you further. Just leave a reply if you need extra help with banking and/or QuickBooks. Keep safe!
How has it taken an entire YEAR of this thread's existence to get this most clear of responses thus far? With this single reply, we've now been notified that the lack of integration is identified by Intuit, it is being worked on, but there is no known timeframe, and apparently there is a list of affected users. How have you not included every user who has responded in this message thread onto this list and why make us reach out to your Customer Support Team, when you should very easily be able to submit a support ticket, for every responder in this message thread, on our behalf, to add us to this list?
I agree. To make matters worse, I'm about to sign up for a Chase checking account but now that they're actually working on it I'm not sure If I should wait or jump ship. They should EASILY be able to give a ballpark timeline. Are we talking days, weeks, months, or years?
This is terrible customer service in my opinion.
Welcome to the Community, KruseCrew17.
I can see your point of view. I am aware that it would be incredibly practical if we could simply create a ticket for every affected user. To do so, we'll need your firm details so we can add them to the system. However, because we value your privacy, we can't do that in the Community space.
That being said, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Care Team. They can pull up your account in a secure environment and add your company information to our containment list.
You can always get back and find me here whenever you need help with banking. I'll be around to assist. Have a lovely day.
We shouldn't have to go through extra effort to reach out to you to go on a "list".
You've known about this issue over a year. Everyone on this forum page has this issue and has demonstrated clear demand and frustration.
The appropriate thing to do if you wanted to actually wanted to solve this issue would be to let us know that It is a high priority and you are working on it, give us updates and a rough timeline, and finally to report back to the forum page when the problem is solved. We all get email notifications when someone new posts so we'll all be made aware.
I realize this post is probably futile at this point but there's always a chance for you guys to turn around and do the right thing even after a year of complacency.
this feed is pure comedy. QB just can't figure it out
That is what they told me also, except the person I talked to said it may more likely be in early January.
I just left novo because they don't have paper checks, but at least they had integration with QBO.
I did an online chat with AMEX business checking today and this was their response:
At this time we are yet not compatible with Quickbooks feature, however, the team is working on it. There are many features which are in pipeline and QuickBooks is one of them. We are expecting the feature to be available soon. As soon the option will be available we will notify you via various communication channels.
Thanks for posting here, @susieq1222.
I appreciate you sharing information about this topic after the interaction with the AMEX support team. This update is a great help for other users who are currently experiencing the same issue.
Please know that you can always post again here if you have any other banking concerns. I'd be glad to help. Have a good one and take care.
I also am waiting for this integration. I love QuickBooks and the new Amex business checking account looks very promising. I spoke with an Amex rep and they assured me that the integration is coming very soon along with many new features as well. Let’s hope soon isn’t to far away. For the meantime let’s hang in.
I had the same issue. I contacted support and they said
“We are very sorry but at this time QBO is not allowing downloads from American Express Business Checking, we have alerted our programming dept to your inquiry”.
Translate to English…we want you to get frustrated with manually entering the data and open a Quickbooks Banking Account.
I ended up closing my AMEX checking account due to this. Although AMEX swears that this is on QuickBooks end.. I still was tired of waiting. Also since all of this has happened, my credit card through AMEX constantly “unlinks”. Never did have problems before I tried to link the AMEX checking account.
I may have to do the same. It is unfortunate. QBO is supposed to help streamline the bookkeeping process. Not add frustration.
I know, right? They have teams of people reading and responding to these inquiries. All giving beige answers to honest questions.
It is not as if we are trying to integrate Bank of Smalltowne USA, this is American Express!
I'll add myself to the chorus of business owners wondering why the hell QBO doesn't support Amex Business Checking!!!
But I'm also resigned (due to my prior posts on this forum) that Intuit will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this. EVER.

When will Quickbooks Online support connecting American Express Business Checking to their platform? There was rumors for it to happen by the New Year. Here we are and it's still not supported.
C'mon guys. You're a massive company and it's a simple API.
It gets even better - QBO asked me today to pay THEM $800 to fix the issue they created. Incredible.
Adding on here. Yes, please add American Express Business Checking Support. It shouldn't be too difficult since that connection works with other bank connection services.
Thinking I"ll switch to Freshbooks because Quickbooks isn't connecting to Amex Bank. Fees on Quickbooks keep going up, and they aren't resolving this issue.
Hello there, callaway1.
I understand how important it is for you and others to be able to link your American Express Business Checking Account to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Many users will benefit from the addition of this specific account type because they will no longer have to manually enter transactions or import them via CSV file.
However, the option to connect the mentioned account type is currently unavailable. Our Banking Team is collaborating with your Financial Institution (FI) to ensure that the online banking connection is operational.
Alternatively, you can add your bank to QBO and manually import the transactions. When you have added the entries to the company, make sure to classify them for the correct category to keep your records in order.
You can bookmark the Community link in your browser for future use. There, you'll find resources and articles to help you manage your accounting tasks, including your banking data.
Please keep in touch if you have any further banking-related questions or concerns about QBO. I'll return right away to respond to them.
I don't know who we should hate more--American Express or Quickbooks? I'm leaning towards Quickbooks. At least American Express has a relatively high APR that pays me to be a customer...instead of the thousands I pay Quickbooks in accounting and payroll fees every year.
Hello,
I am also very interested in the Quickbooks/AMEX business checking integration happening as soon as possible.
Can we please have an update on this? I was hoping it would happen by now.
Thank you.
