Reconciliation

I use QB online Accountant. My client's previous bookkeepr had done the reconcilation incorrectly. I tried to undo & redo. However it is asking for a password. I informed my client and tried with her password. It didn't work. What should be done to unreconcile the bank account?

Reconciliation

Thanks for joining us here, Nishali. We're glad you reached out to us with your question about passwords for editing past reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

The password required to edit previous reconciliations or closed periods is different from your normal login credentials.

This special password is configured in the company settings when you close your books for the year. You can replace or delete this password at any time if you need to reopen a closed period or make changes to previous reconciliations in QBO.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear or Settings ⚙ icon and select Account and settings.
  2. Proceed to the Advanced tab.
  3. Click Edit ✎ in the Accounting section.
  4. To change your password, just enter a new password and confirm it. You can also delete the existing password to remove it.
  5. Select Save, then Done.

Now you will be able to edit past reconciliations or periods without entering that previous password. Let me also share these articles for additional guidance on this feature:
