@Jwsinstallation

Are you using QBO? Have you tried opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser?

I got here a few ways on how you can resolve the bank feeds issue in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @kennya.

Before we proceed in performing the troubleshooting steps, can you tell me the specific bank you're having problems with? This way I can verify if there's a connection problem between your bank and QBO.

In the meantime, you can perform a manual update to refresh the connection and downloads the latest available transactions from your bank. Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, click the Bookkeeping menu.
  2. Then, select Transactions and choose Banking.
  3. From there, look for the account you're having a problem with and click Update.

If you're still unable to see the transactions, I suggest checking your bank's website. The problem may be on your bank's end. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Log in to your bank's website using the URL from QBO.
  2. Once signed in, check if there are messages, alerts or notifications that need immediate action
  3. If everything looks fine, go back to your QBO account and update the bank connection.

If the issue persists, you can proceed and follow instructions in Steps 3 and 4 of this article: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, you may want to manually upload your bank transactions to QBO via CSV files. This is also recommended if ever you want to enter older transactions or if you don't want to connect your bank account to the program.

Once the transactions are downloaded, the system will now ask you to review and categorize them to make sure they are allocated to the correct account. In case you want to speed up the review process, you can create bank rules and let the system automatically categorize the entries for you.

I'm always around here in the Community if you want to add some details to your banking concern. I'll keep an eye out for your response. Thanks for dropping by. Have a good one.

Seems the bank feeds aren't working. Again

Hi,

I am running Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021.  I have a Chase Bank Visa Card set up in Bank Feeds and it was performing perfectly for the past several years.  However, I recently ran into a problem when I attempted to download new transactions; only some of the credit card transactions got downloaded and many did not.  How do I rectify this?  Thanks in advance!

A warm welcome to the QuickBooks family, @jwlee

Rectifying the missing transactions is important for a business. If you haven't tried the following, you'll want to consider doing them so you can quickly continue your business.

To provide a safer and better banking experience, we have upgraded bank feeds. I recommend you refresh your Express Web Connect online banking connection. This helps in reconnecting the bank account's connection to your QuickBooks Desktop.

The following accounts require reconnecting:

  • Capital One by 4/30/2022
  • Discover by 6/30/2022
  • Chase Bank and these affiliate banks by 9/27/2022 Note: all are now Chase Bank (ALL) – New
    • First USA
    • CardMember Services
    • Bank One
  • Bank of America by 10/11/2022. Note: it is now Bank of America (New)

To begin, ensure to back up your company file and upgrade to the most recent release. This way, you can easily restore the file in case you run into errors. After that follow the steps below to isolate the issue:

  1. Be ready to switch to Express Web Connect
  2. Disable the bank feed for your account
  3. Set up an account for Bank feeds
  4. Download transactions with Express Web Connect

Here's a module you can browse for the detailed steps: Refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking.

Lastly, I'm adding this helpful article about handling problems with your company file: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Keep in touch if you have other concerns with this matter or QuickBooks in general. I'm always ready to back you up. Take the best care!

Seems the bank feeds aren't working. Again

Hi Jamaica,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  What do I do with the partial and incomplete transactions that have already been imported to my Quickbooks file?  Do I just leave them or do I need to delete them?  Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Jamaica - thanks for the prompt reply.  What do I do with the partial and incomplete transactions that have already been imported?  Leave them alone or do I need to delete them?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for following the suggestions above, @jwlee.

If these transactions are part of your bank statements, then you can add or match them with the ones you've already manually entered in QuickBooks Desktop.

If these are duplicates of your downloaded transactions, you can simply use the Ignore option when categorizing them. Doing this will delete them from your list. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Bank Feeds and click Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Go to the Transaction list.
  4. Under the Actions drop-down list and click Ignore.
  5. Select Yes to confirm.

For complete guidance you can check out this article: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

In addition, you can create rules to categorize transactions to help QuickBooks match your transactions.

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with this, or if there's something else I can do for you. I've got your back. Stay safe!

Seems the bank feeds aren't working. Again

I did as you instructed but I am still experiencing problems.

I disabled the existing bank feed and set up a new bank feed for Chase Bank and then downloaded the credit card transactions however there are still some credit card transactions that are missing and did not get imported into Quickbooks.

Additionally, there are two credit card payments that were made from the company's bank account at Truist that did get imported but were not cleared / reconciled.

How do I fix these two issues?

Seems the bank feeds aren't working. Again

Let's make sure to fix the two (2) issues that you have, Jwlee.

Typically, QuickBooks downloads the latest bank feeds. Since you're still experiencing missing transactions, you can manually import them into QuickBooks Desktop.

But before that, ensure to download using Web Connect. Some banks let you set a date range for downloads. If your bank doesn't have this option, you automatically get the maximum number of transactions available the first time you download which may be 30, 60, 90 days, or more depending on the bank.

Once done, import transactions via Web Connect. Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Select Bank Feeds then Banking Center.
  3. Find your bank and choose Download Transactions. This opens a browser window to your bank's website.
  4. Sign in to your bank's website to download the Web Connect file.

After that, connect with Web Connect (.QBO) files. Please see the details for the process:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Pick the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  3. When asked to select your bank account:
    • Use a QuickBooks account that exists if the account you're importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into isn't in QuickBooks yet. Learn how to create an account.
  4. Click Continue. You'll see a dialog box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Press OK.
  5. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

You can check out this article on how to set up accounts for bank feeds, download, add, and match bank feed transactions: Download Bank Feed Transaction In QuickBooks Desktop.

On the other hand, you can do a mini-reconciliation of those transactions that aren't reconciled at Truist or directly clear them from your chart of accounts. To clear the transactions, simply follow the steps:

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Double-click the account, then put a checkmark beside the amount under the Payment column.
  3. You'll receive a prompt for cleared transaction warning. Hit Yes.

Once you get your latest transactions, you can now review and match transactions: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. That will also guide you on how to create rules to categorize transactions.

Let me know if you have any questions about important bank transactions. I'm always here to further assist you.
