Slow Sync with Bank Feeds Quickbooks Pro

I am a long term QB PRO user.  Currently on Ver 2019. A few days ago I got an error when trying to sync my Bank of America accounts in bank feeds.  I am receiving feeds for a savings, checking and credit card account.  It seems about once a year either my American Express or BofA feed "breaks".  The steps I took were:

1. Turn off bank feed for checking account.

2. Turn online banking back on for checking account.

3. Synced with BofA no problems.  Syncing speed actually improved.

About a week later I tried to use bill pay for the checking account and it was not an option for paying vendors.  I went back to my checking account and clicked online payments button in online banking for that account.  The option for online payment appeared for vendors.  I checked with BofA and our online banking package includes Connect with online payments.

Syncing for BofA accounts is now not working.  It is taking 2 hours for the progress bar to reach 99%.  What I have checked:

1) Online banking "Connect" with BofA is active

2) American Express syncs normally with QB

3) Turned off online payments and account now syncs normally.

4) Turned on online payments and account is still not syncing correctly.

Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've performed, @Tampa_SB_User.

At this time, we have an on-going issue where users aren't able to send online bill payments from Bank of America (BofA). The Bank of America is already aware of this issue and are working to resolve it.

As a workaround, I'd suggest to disable the Online Bill Payments option and try to send a transaction via Online Bill Pay directly through the Bank of America website.

Also, to ensure you'll get an update about the status, I recommend contacting our Phone Support Team. This way, they can add your company to the list of affected users and provide this investigation number for easy tracking: INV-42940.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue and click Continue.
  4. Select either Talk to a Specialist or Message an Agent.

You can also visit our blog site so you'll be able to get the latest news on what our Product Care Team is working on.

Thank you for your patience while we're working for a fix. Please know you can continue to reach me here with any additional questions. I'm always here to help. Have a good one.

@Mark_R I spoke with BofA online services this morning.  They stated Inuit had cancelled all billpay services with BofA.  I also found a knowledge article saying Inuit's relationship with their online banking service vendor ended in December 2019.  I think the vendor was FIS

Can you confirm?

Hi Tampa_SB_User,

Currently, we're unable to confirm if it's an FIS vendor. While we didn't receive any updates about Intuit and Bank of America Online Banking issues, there's an open case about sending online bill payment. Our engineers are working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

As mentioned by @Mark_R, the ability to send an online bill payment from Bank of America is a reported issue. You'll want to contact our support team to include you on the affected list of users.

You can also match bank transactions after you'll connect your bank or credit accounts. Here's an article for reference: Match and Categorize Bank Transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions about QuickBooks, please let us know so we can get back to you.

The link is to the online knowledge article that I found yesterday.  The vendor is Fiserv.  Is this different then the problem described by Bank of America?

Thanks for providing the article, @Tampa_SB_User.

To confirm if it's dealing with the Fiserv or with the ongoing Investigation, I recommend calling into our Desktop Support. They have tools that can look further into the issue and give you the most accurate information with this behavior. Here's how to get in touch:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Choose Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  5. Pick how you want to get contacted.

You'll hear from an agent in no time! Let me know how the conversation goes. Have a beautiful day.

After speaking with Intuit help.  The article is correct. QB no longer offers online bill pay to any bank.  The service just ended.
It is sad because this puts us back about 10 years to writing paper checks again.  We will have to explore other account software.

A year later,  it seems that the ability to upload QB online checks to the Bank of America for creation of bill payment checks by the bank.

I wrote a letter to the Office of the President of Intuit about the issue and they assigned a senior analyst to help me.  She had me re-enable my upload feed to the bank and write a test check and it successfully uploaded to the bank.

So all of you who lost the use of the QB Online Bill Payment feature last year, if your bank is the Bank of America, you might try enabling your upload feed and seeing if the service works again.

I think the Bank of America must have done something on their end to re-establish the connection between QB and their internal Bill Payment system which is connected by the Direct Connect tool from the desktop to the Bank's system.
