My online banking will only allow me to download back to 3 months ago. I had to roll back my reconciliation beyond that. I have the .qbo files saved but I get the message in my post title when I double click on those files. Is there a way to get around this? Thanks!
Hi Dave,
Is it your first time connecting your bank account to QuickBooks? If so, we can only download bank transactions up to 90 days (3 mos). Beyond that, we can let you upload them using WebConnect.
You've mentioned you have the .QBO files. May I know what is that message when you double click on them? Have you tried uploading them from the Banking page? If not, let me show you how:

Thanks for the response GarynGay. My bank recently made web connect available and this is my first time utilizing it. It looks like there is no problem downloading the last 3 months, but beyond that (which is where I need to go) it won't allow me to download.
I obtained the .qbo files via downloading the .pdf files and using a converter. This is how I've had to do it in the past and it's worked. Now when I double click on the .qbo file a pop-up says "Quickbooks has recieved new transaction data. Please indicate whether you want to import this data now or save the file for import later." (As it has in the past) I select the option to "Import new transactions now" and it then gives me the pop-up "There are no new transactions available. Please check again tomorrow."
I forgot to mention that I just upgraded to the Desktop Pro 2019 version of QB. All my attempts at importing data to QB just takes me to the " There are no new transactions..." pop-up I had mentioned.
I appreciate your help on this.
Dave
This happens because QB keeps a 'high water' mark and once you import newer transactions it is assumed that the older ones have already been import / should be ignored.
To import the older transactions anyway, edit the bank account on your chart of accounts and remove the online banking/bank feeds setup from the account. Then import the oldest of the QBO files first and then each subsequent one.
The OP wrote "My online banking will only allow me to download back to 3 months ago." and "I have the .qbo files saved", and then writes about the difficulty importing them, which is that QB says there are no new transactions.
Also the user is getting the "There are no new transactions available." message.
Hi Dave,
I know the others are helping you with the import issue, but can I ask a slightly different question...
You said you had to "roll back my reconciliation" so to me that means you have all the info already in your account. Is that not accurate? Not sure why you'd need to go back in time with the Bank Feed or downloaded filed from the bank if you already have the info in QBs?
Online banking helps you match what payments have cleared and catch any charges that hit your account you forgot to enter or were not expecting (or missed charges w/ your Credit Card). But it does not reconcile your account for you. I'd suggest using the statements to make sure you're reconciled with the bank. And I doubt it is as common if you download the files, but keep in mind that QBs does sometimes miss items when syncing with the bank. Going forward, the Bank Feed will help you make sure you haven't missed any Credit Card entries and see when your banking items have cleared (it's great if you get ACH deposits).
Dave, I have to ask, what version and year desktop did you upgrade from and why did your existing transactions not carry forward in your existing company file?
FYI, the .QBO file (banking download for import to QB) only will include up to previous 90 days from date of download. You cannot get more than 90 days in a QBO. THta is why you have to pull the historical data through a CSV or EXCEL. It appears you have done this in the past. From your banking institution you would download just the date range of transactions you need and then import as needed.
On an aside - if any prior reconciliation is complete and correct and in balance then that indicates that ALL of your transactions are already "in" quickbooks, properly cleared and in NO need of additional download/import. In fact if you did import historical data for a reconciled time period and added them from review you would double up income and/or expense
Thanks for the help BRC, I tried your suggestion but was asked to set up a new account compatible with bank feeds. There were a few other inputs, so I'll try to clarify on the last comment.
I apologize for the confusion guys, I'm new to using this board. I'm also far from being an expert with QB. My business is very part time and requires relatively few inputs.
To attempt to clarify a bit, I actually hadn't reconciled for about 6 months (like I said, very seasonal small business) so that puts me outside the 90 day window. While I was neglecting my reconciliation duties, my bank implemented online banking (they previously didn't have it) and I also updated from QB Desktop Pro 2016 to Desktop Pro 2019 to maintain compatibility with Payroll. I assume the option to use the old method of manually importing my converted .qbo files may have gone out the window with these changes. That being said, I'm just going to bite the bullet and have my CPA guide me through this (so much for saving money there... :b).
I appreciate all you guys' help in this. If I had more time, I'd be able to slowly work my way through this, but the year end is quickly approaching... Again, I apologize for the confusion.
