Transfer transactions from one account to another one

I need to do a reclassification of many transactions from one account into another one. Is there a way to do this in one action rather then manually change each transactions?

Transfer transactions from one account to another one

Hello there, @accounting-lansi. Let me give you insights on reclassifying transactions from one account into another in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO Advanced and QBO Accountant, you can use the reclassify transaction tool to save time when you need to make changes to multiple transactions at once. If you need help with reclassifying the transactions, you can invite your accountant to assist you. However, if you're the accountant, you can follow the steps below to proceed.

For QBO Accountant:

  1. Have your client’s QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Choose the Accountant Tools, then Reclassify transactions.

For QBO Advanced:

  1. Ready your QBO account.
  2. Go to Settings and select Reclassify transactions.

After that, here are the steps in reclassifying transactions:

  1. In the Account types dropdown menu, choose Balance Sheet to see your asset, liability, and equity accounts, or select Profit and Loss to see income and expense accounts.
  2. Select the account with the transactions you want to change from the Account list.
  3. Utilize the type, class, customer/vendor, and modify filters to filter the list.
  4. Choose Find transactions.
  5. Click the checkbox for each transaction you want to change, then choose Reclassify.
  6. From the Change account dropdown, decide the account to move the transactions to. Change the class in the Change class to dropdown, and choose a new location in the Change location to
  7. Once done, hit Apply

On the other hand, visit this article as a guide in moving account balances from one another to another: Create journal entries in QuickBooks Online.

Post here again if you have any additional questions about reclassifying multiple transactions. Take care.

Transfer transactions from one account to another one

Hi KayePe,

I don't have Advanced.

I have QB Online Plus. Is there an option there as well? I don't want to do a journal entry.

Thanks!

Transfer transactions from one account to another one

Hi there, @accounting- lansi.

Thank you for coming back to us with additional information about your concern and asking further questions you have about your QuickBooks Online (QBO) transactions. Allow me to share details regarding this matter.

If you’re currently using QuickBooks Online Plus, transferring transactions from one account to another feature is currently unavailable. However, to be able to do that, I recommend reaching out to your account since the QBO Accountant has access and can transfer transactions.

If you don’t have an accountant, I can help you find one. Feel free to visit this page to find one for your business: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

You can also upgrade your subscription to QuickBooks Advance, where you access and make things easier for moving transactions in your business.

Furthermore, if you want to make changes manually to your transactions. You can read this article that entails the steps about it: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have other inquiries about moving your transactions to QBO. Just leave a comment below. I’m just a post away.
