I'm here to lend a hand with importing a .QBW file into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company file, Michaell.
Please note that you cannot directly import a .QBW file into QBO, as this format is not supported. Instead, QBO accepts the following file formats for import:
However, you can still import your .QBW file into QBO by first opening it in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and then migrating the entire company file or a specific list file from there.
If you no longer have a version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) installed on your computer or it's an older version, there's no need to worry, as there are trial version that can be utilized.
Once logged in, proceed to transfer the complete company file or specific data. If you are utilizing the Pro or Premier version, please refer to these instructions for moving your data:
If you're using the Enterprise version, please refer to this article for the step-by-step process: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
Once the file is migrated, you can proceed to export the file you wish to import, and then bring in the file to your current company file.
I'll be adding this article to learn about the steps you should take after you move from QBDT. This includes comparing financial reports to ensure your data is copied successfully: What to do after you move from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows or Mac to QuickBooks Online
Post here again if you need further clarification about the process. I'll be right here to help you with your data or any other QuickBooks-related tasks.
Can you open the same QBW file on your QB Desktop?
