Undoing a bank rec

I need to undo some bank reconciliations and QB says that our accountant has to do them.  She said she doesn't have access to do this because they don't do anything with our quickbooks online.  Is there some other way to do this?

Undoing a bank rec

Hi there, @laurie29111. Welcome to the Community, allow me to help you with your query.

Give your accountant access to your QuickBooks Online company by inviting them. They can use this to review your books, and make adjustments.

To invite an accountant, here’s how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Go to Gear icon and select Manage users.
  3. The Accounting firms tab.
  4. Select Invite and then enter your accountant's info and select Save.
  5. Your accountant will receive an invitation from QuickBooks.

When you're done, you have the option of having your accountant reverse the entire reconciliation.

You might want to share this article to your accountant, it’s about how to undo a client’s reconciliation in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

If you don’t want to invite your accountant, you can manually undo or remove transaction from the reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

A reminder, review each transaction from the account before you undo/remove it.

To unreconcile a transaction, these are the steps:

  1. Select Accounting and then click the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Find the account that has the reconciled transaction. Then select View register.
  3. Find the transaction. If the transaction is reconciled, you’ll see an “R” in the checkmark column.
  4. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  5. In the checkmark column, select the box with the “R” until the box is blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation and then select Save.
  6. Close the account register.

I’ll be providing this article about how to fix issues for accounts you’ve reconciled in the past.

Always know that you can get back to me anytime if you have additional concern about this. Keep safe!
