When I import my credit card statement into QB online why does the interest charge show as both a charge and a payment?

Hi there, coolspot.

Please know that the details of the downloaded banking transactions are provided by your financial institution. I'd suggest reaching out to them to check why these transactions are being downloaded as charge and payments at the same time.

To make sure that the interest charges aren't duplicated in your account register, you can exclude the ones that shouldn't be part of the import.

Once excluded, they'll be listed on the Excluded tab for reference or review. They won't be tracked or reported as part of your business finances and will not appear in any associated account registers or reports as well.

Here's how to exclude transactions:

  1. Select all incorrectly downloaded transactions by checking the boxes before them.
  2. Click Batch actions and select Exclude Selected.

Repeat the same process for the rest of the interest charges until everything is correct. You can also take a look at these articles for more details:

I'll be around if you need anything else.
