Import Quicken Data to Quickbooks

I switched from Quickbooks to Quicken a few years ago.  Stupid decision.  I am now running Quicken 2016 but I want to go back to Quickbooks.  Can I import my data from my Quicken files to Quickbooks?

You don't mention which QB versions (Windows, Mac?) you want to convert to (since, I believe, 2016 will be the last version are you converting to QB Windows?), but see below for help.

For QuickBooks Mac I believe 2015 is the last version that will import a Quicken file. That said it rarely turns out well as the data requirements are too different.

Do you need to convert data from Quicken to QB Desktop? Which Quicken year version do you have?

I do! Quicken 2013. Quickbooks Desktop 2023 so I used the 2023 Quicken converter and attempted to load that QDF file into my Quickbooks. I get an error, "Failed to load the QDB.DLL...."

You should find the trial version of Quicken 2015 to upgrade your data. Then use the trial version of QB Desktop 2015 to convert it. Next step, use the trial version of QBD 2018 and 2021 to upgrade your file gradually before opening it on QBD 2023 or 2024. Contact me in private for assistance.

Thank you for your answer! I forgot to mention that I have done this earlier this year, it might have been before I upgraded to QB 2023 though. I didn't have to convert it in stages but do you think that makes a difference? I didn't know that I could try trial version of QBD; it wouldn't mess up my other business information in QBD 2023 would it?

No. Each company file is independent of each other,

Okay, so I downloaded Quicken classic and opened up my file in Quicken and exported it. I tried to convert it to my QBD 2023. Still got the error. Then I tried to use the Quicken 2023 converter and attempted to convert That file into my QBD 2023 and got the error again. Any suggestions?

You can't convert data from 2013 directly to 2023 in one jump. You should find the trial version of Quicken 2015 as I mentioned earlier as the first step. Otherwise, consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service. You will get a QB Desktop file ready to open on your QB Desktop 2023.

I was attempting to do what you advised but wasn't seeing a 2015 Trial version so that's why I went with the classic. I thought if I could get the file exported from a newer version of Quicken that QBD 2023 would be able to convert it. I'll keep looking for a 2015 trial of Quicken. Thank you!
