Just talked a new Canadian business using Square POS however they are unable to use QBO's sales tax module because Square doesn't split sales tax by different agencies. In this case, GST/HST which is 5% and PST which is 7%. There are no third-party apps that which allow the split. In fact, while testing integration in Zapier it seems like Square doesn't even have API endpoint to split sales tax by different agencies.

The integration is completely useless because it circumvents the QBOs sales tax module i.e posting tax liability as a product/service rather than using sales tax code.

My question is, why would QBO allow such apps/integrations to begin with?

Hi @Accracy Accounting,

Thanks for your feedback! We have identified this limitation and our teams have been working on enhancing Square integration capabilities so that it supports Sales Tax Split going forward. With this feature, you will be able to track sales tax by agency and by products / services.

Please stay tuned!
