Well said.
So, what's going to happen when they give us some other feature to use, like tags.
And then, we use it, integrate it and become reliant upon it.
Are they going to then pull that too?
Hi there, @banking updates.
You can still attach your files in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Desktop app as long your browser supports it. Since it doesn't complete the uploading process, let's try resetting the app's data. This way, it'll fix some data issues on the app. Here's how:
On the other hand, our product engineers are checking all running features in QBO and review them. If some features aren't used by some of the QuickBooks users, they might remove them. That way, they can invest in other functionality that matters to you. But before they remove some features in QBO, they make sure that all users will be informed through email.
For now, you can visit our blog site so you'll be able to get the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.
Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day.
This is SO FREAKING DISTURBING!
"On the other hand, we will stop supporting some features due to limited use. This way, we can invest in other functionality that matters to you. But before we remove other features in QBO, we make sure that all users will be informed through email."
So you have dedicated users that come to rely on certain functionality and workflow, and instead of making the functionality better, you will arbitrarily remove items you don't want to support????? "before we remove other featurses"?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HOW BAD IS IT GOING TO GET?
We have reset the data, cleared the cache.
Still does not allow us to attach files.
Please note, that it works for the first few attachments, then it stops.
Happy to jump on a screen share to show you.
I would really appreciate this being fixed so we can continue using the app while praying Intuit realizes that we live in a multi company world and having an always on, multi company app is extremely important.
I hope you all realize how sad we all are and terrified that we built up all our businesses because we had this app.
Now we are faced with having to handle all this business with a browser app that slows our work flow down to a crawl.
How could you do this to us?
I guess it takes some one who "actually" runs a set of multi company books, day in and day out, to truly get it.
Ok.
This is getting out of hand.
Any limited use is due to people not knowing about it. I didn't know about it for a year and then I couldn't even find it until I finally stumbled on to it.
Second, any limited use is likely a result of the all the bugs the app had, there were a lot and people gave up on it and never went back.
Who in their right mind would prefer a single instance browser app over a multi instance app?
No bookkeeper, accountant, clerk, business manager, CFO or anyone else would prefer it, I can guarantee you that.
You guys built the killer app of killer apps of accounting and you threw it away because someone blew it over there.
What features are you talking about removing?
You know, we integrate these features and rely upon them for our work flow.
How can you just remove features?
Are you going to tell us in another Sunday night email like you did with the Desktop app?
I agree. I love the desktop app and the ease of use. I am thinking of other options versus continuing with the online version. I find it hard to work in on an everyday basis.
I could not have said it better. We are an accounting firm and use the app exclusively. Though finding it to download has been a bit of a challenge. I now have another reason to recommend to my clients to stay with desktop. Getting around QBO is so cumbersome. It takes me three times as long to accomplish a task in QBO as in Desktop. I love Desktop.
Thank you everyone for saying what I feel also about using the true QBO online vs the desktop app for QBO. I have moved all my customers with QBO to the desktop app and use it myself. Now it is clunky and has moved back to the 80s with the fax machine. So disappointed by this decision unless a new product was coming out. I love having the information in the cloud but able to have multiple tabs / reports / uses open at one time.
Poor decision by QuickBooks, definitely not more efficient or consumer driven. Now I need to think about recommending it to clients.
Usually if you are doing enhancements, you do not take down the efficient product first. You announce a transition to ensure customer satisfaction which is definitely not happening. Or at minimum announce the how we can have the same capabilities as previous with the online product. Unfortunately, this is not possible.
If you want to flip back and forth between customer lists and vendors, or anything else, simply duplicate the tab. You can have more than one tab of QBO from the same account open at the same time. This way you can have your chart of accounts on one tab, your bills you're working on in another tab, and so on. It is much easier that using only one tab.
As for multiple comanies, I don't know as I have only one. I suppose you could try opening different windows for each company, or open each company in a different browser. It might work.
This is a pathetic canned response. You're probably not even a human.
The posters here are describing REAL WORLD issues and you offer nothing other than "leave feedback".
I agree to all the users here, the app was a leap better than the browser, and it felt native. If you wanted to focus on improving services, it would make sense working with something that is already better, than the browser.
So as you can see on these comments, you clearly missed your customer's support on this decision.
Please continue support for the Desktop App.
Thanks
Have you received enough negative response to bring back the app? I feel like you are listening to the programmers and not your customers. We have over 40 companies using QBO. Do you realize how inconvenient it is to not be able to open several companies at a time?
Yeah, this hurts me too, Now a message pops up this app will no longer work after May 21 2022. Has anyone found a 3rd party app that will allow multiple companies open at the same time???
Agree 100% this seems crazy. I literally only just found out an app was even an option having moved to QuickBooks back in October and then I read it's being discontinued! An an app looks like it would solve some of the annoyances we are facing e.g. being able to easily work in multiple windows and logins timing out. Very strange decision ... especially as there still seems to be a supported app for Online Advanced which must be mostly the same code base!
Great news to everyone who has viewed my post, Intuit has launched a new solution. I was just served up this video https://youtu.be/ml658zYcF4A on how to use QBO as a desktop or online app. The flexibility of this new/revised feature will allow us the options we were upset about going away; multiple tabs, multiple companies, browser or desktop, and the ability to use a desktop look and feel or an online look and feel. Thank you Intuit QB for bringing back this functionality. I have seen many improvements over the past two years in QBO (especially reporting), and am happy you are listening to your users needs.
OH! Thanks for clarifying. Well that works great for us since we use QBO Advanced. Sorry to the other users that I may have gotten your hopes up.
Note that you can open multiple companies/windows in the browser version of QBO by launching QBO using multiple browser profiles. To launch a new profile in Chrome, click your initials (or profile icon) in the top right corner of your browser. Then, click the name of the other profile you want to use, or click "+ Add" to add a new profile. This will launch a brand new window in which you can log in to QBO and use independently from other instances of QBO running under different profiles.
True, it's not as good or as efficient as the desktop app, but it does give you some of the functionality you'll miss if you can no longer use the app.
Hello @JustineEFI,
I have reviewed the solution you’ve shared and it's correct and accurate. Thank you for sharing your inputs to help address the issue.
We love to see members supporting one another! Have a great day.
