this does not work - it is retarded to require a password to open a company file when i do NOT NEED IT password protected. Please indicate how to remove the password requirement, and if you cannot, then get on it and come up with a solution.
CRAP CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!
Hello. I see that the password requirement seems inconvenient for you.
Having a password helps safeguard your sensitive financial data from unauthorized access, ensuring the privacy and integrity of your company's information. It adds an extra layer of protection against potential threats and unauthorized users.
Since you wish to remove the password requirement, I recommend sending feedback directly to our engineers. Our team will carefully consider the potential risks before making any changes.

Let me add my voice to the thousands of users who are very frustrated with having to have a password. All the feedback on best security practices is just a waste of time for me. I could probably write those rules, as I have over 50 years in the IT industry.
I use QB to track my expenses and revenue as a glorified spreadsheet, and I create invoices with it. I like the QB functionality because it has a lot more stuff than building my own XL sheet. It is annoying to have to use a special password, and even more annoying for me to train those who act as backup to do it (and share the password with them). This should be my decision in how I choose to operate my business, not yours.
Please, just fix the #$%^%$# problem, don't lecture your users.
I am using QB 2019 Desktop Pro, single user.
At least you have a non-subscription license. They announced yesterday that QB Desktop 2024 will be their last version (except for the Enterprise edition) until 2027. I'm sure this password issue won't be a concern for them anymore.
This is not about account security. I have nothing in my Company File that is financial or confidential. I have no data to keep secure. I am a one-person company and do my banking by hand. My QB desktop lives on my own secured laptop in a private, secure location. Requiring me to use a password on my desktop software is in no way about any kind of security. It is obviously just data mining to sell my personal information and expose my files to the internet. There is no other explanation that is logical.
The only thing that makes sense is that they want to expose our private, personal information to the internet so they can sell it.
You say you don't want Greg to be frustrated by the password requirement, then you frustrate Greg even more with the password requirement. Do you even hear yourself? Do you not care that you are the problem? You are mocking Greg. You are obtuse and completely narcissistic. You are going out of your time to abuse him and waste his time. YOU are the reason QB is so FRUSTRATING to use.
I see that English comprehension is challenging for you. Let me help by inviting you to not reply to comments until you have the vaguest notion of what they say.
This is complete BS! let people control their own files, including their own security choices!
I will be looking for an alternative platform to implement for myself and my clients. Not because of the password issue alone, but because of QB complete lack of understanding and respect for their customers over this issue!!!
Goodbye!

Which QB Desktop year version do you have?

Password is mandatory for supported versions.. If you have decided switching to another program, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop Enterprise to access your historical data for good. Then you can start from scratch in a new program to lower your conversion costs.
Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Company Preferences. Under 'Manage Login Settings', choose Keep user logged in for 90 days. That's the best you can do with QB Desktop.
Quickbooks does not require a password to protect data files. Users here are crystal clear that we can protect our user files without QB password nonsense. Why are you lying? Why won't you just be honest and actually listen to your users. Instead of using your time and resources to insult us and be passive-aggressively obtuse, why can't you instead listen to and acknowledge what we need? Does it make you feel powerful to go out of your way to make using QB even more insulting and frustrating? Since you're obviously not interested in helping, then why are you even here?
I don't need, nor want a password and do not want to be forced to set up one. Security should remain on my end to worry about. As a mature adult, I do not need a babysitter.
Please advise on how to remove the password requirement without preaching how to run by business.
Quick answer. No workaround.
