rewind shut down their copy app at the end of June.... so that seems to not be an option now. :(
@Fiat Lux - ASIA , unfortunately it looks like rewind shut down their copy app at the end of June......ugh... so sad
You are correct. Looks like they were forced to stop offering the feature. You have to go back to the old way of duplicating data.
1, Utilize a migration tool
https://transactionpro.grsm.io/qbo
2. Purchase a 3rd party migration service

@Fiat Lux - ASIA , ok ... just emailed you. thanks you!
You need to delete and then reattach the "Online Backup and Restore" app (Chronobooks). That was causing the API error code.
@Deb in Texas , did you ever find a way to copy your company from A to B? still struggling here...
Anne - I just received this and my reply is that I never was able to convert the data. Non one at Intuit ever provided the correct information and admitted that the conversion did not work as they instructed.
Ended up buying a third party software, downloaded the data, uploaded to a desktop version and had to create a new Online account. I hate it that I ended up charging the non-profit around $600 in my time and another $199 for the software to download the QBO files.
Oh this sucks. Are you for hire by chance? We are a non profit that need this same service! ugh... what a pain! @Deb in Texas I FINALLY DID get QB to allow a COPY but it always crashes out with "Failed to fetch" errors. If you are for hire i'd love to know it.
Looks like Deb in Texas did the following steps (cmiiw):
1. Convert data from old QBO account to a QB Desktop file. One can utilize the conversion tool for free or purchase a 3rd party service.
2. Install the trial license for QB Desktop to open the file and prepare the new QBO account provided by TechSoup
3. Convert data from QB Desktop to the new QB Online account. Some data will be missed on the new account due to limitations in the conversion process (e.g estimate, attachments, custom fields)
Is there any update on this issue? I am trying to do this for a client and having the exact same issue 7 months later.. (hours with tech support, no help, same error message, instructions to do the same thing I already did and telling me the product engineers are not client facing so they will email me when it is complete....) do I still need to download to desktop and then upload to QBO or is there another option?
You still need to use the workaround as I mentioned earlier. If you need to migrate specific data (e.g estimate, purchase order, attachments, class), consider purchasing a 3rd party migration service.
Hi @Deb in Texas , and everyone else with this problem. I had the very same issue you experienced and after reading through your frustration, I try a couple of things but fortunately, I just fixed it on my end. I was able to go around by deleting the target company of the copy and adding it again. A solution that literally takes less than a minute and nobody at QB thought about. Go to home and under the target company in the action dropdown button, select Remove company. Then click on add company button on the top right of the screen. Hope it helps.
Hi everyone,
I followed the directions from TechSoup to copy one Online Advanced company into a new TechSoup account and it basically worked after the sluggish backups completed. However, none of the tags copied over and my client used tags heavily in the original company. I can't find anything that says that tags won't copy in the instructions. Did I miss something? This is going to be a big problem for my client if they don't have the tags on the migrated transactions.
Thanks,
Jen
I just completed 2 attempts at migrating to the donated QBO subscription from TechSoup. Second time worked much better but there were still a lot of issues on the stmt of fin'l position and stmt of activity.
After my first attempt, a QB Payroll Rep gave me some very useful information that no one in QB Advanced Support gave me. She said that the new company settings such as chart of accounts, classes, sales tax, payroll settings, products, etc. need to match the old company prior to copying the data. She didn't mention tags but if you didn't set those up in the new company, that might be why they didn't migrate. If you are still running the old company in the "paid" version, I was told by this Payroll rep that you can do another copy to the new company and it will overwrite it. She said she has assisted with several migrations to the donated QBO.
